Glasner And Howe Express Disappointment Following Late Equaliser In Newcastle Vs Crystal Palace Match

Oliver Glasner and Eddie Howe were left disappointed after a late equaliser from Crystal Palace secured a dramatic draw against Newcastle United. Despite Newcastle's lead, the match highlighted their struggles in attack.

In a dramatic finish at Selhurst Park, Crystal Palace managed to secure a draw against Newcastle United with a late goal. Daniel Munoz's header in the 94th minute ensured Palace earned a point they deserved. Newcastle had initially taken the lead when Marc Guehi accidentally turned Anthony Gordon's cross into his own net. Despite this, Newcastle failed to register any shots on target throughout the match.

Oliver Glasner expressed mixed feelings after his team moved out of the relegation zone. "It was so deserved. We're a little bit disappointed because we would have deserved the win today," he told BBC Sport. He praised his team's performance for limiting Newcastle to just one shot and highlighted their strong character, saying, "What gives me a lot of confidence is the character of the players here at Crystal Palace."

Disappointment for Glasner and Howe After Draw

Eddie Howe shared his disappointment over conceding late in the game. "It's really gutting to concede the goal at the end," he said to BBC Sport. Howe felt that Newcastle had weathered Palace's attacks well and were close to securing victory. However, he acknowledged that one lapse cost them dearly, adding, "In [our last] two games, we've let a lot of points slip."

The statistics painted a clear picture of Palace's dominance in attack. They recorded 16 shots with an expected goals (xG) value of 1.3 compared to Newcastle's single attempt and 0.02 xG. Despite these numbers, Howe believed his side controlled much of the game effectively. "We didn't have any goalmouth action, but I felt we were good in the game," he stated.

Howe also noted that despite lacking offensive opportunities, Newcastle managed to nullify Palace's threats for most parts of the match. "I felt we nullified them pretty well," he remarked, reflecting on their defensive efforts.

The result left both managers reflecting on missed opportunities and what could have been a crucial win for their respective teams. While Glasner was encouraged by his team's resilience and performance, Howe was left pondering how to convert control into tangible results in future matches.
