Erik ten Hag acknowledged that his time with Manchester United had its ups and downs, admitting the team wasn't always at its best. Despite achieving notable successes, such as winning the EFL Cup and securing a Champions League spot in his first season, consistency eluded them in his second year. The Dutch manager's tenure ended after a disappointing start to the current season.
Ten Hag took charge of Manchester United in 2022 and was dismissed in October after just over two years. His contract had been extended for another year before this season began. Although they concluded the 2023-24 season by defeating Manchester City in the FA Cup final, a poor start this season saw them languishing in 14th place after losing 2-1 to West Ham.

The former manager expressed his fondness for Old Trafford during an appearance on the SEG Stories podcast. "If there's one thing I miss, it's Old Trafford," he said. He reflected on the highs experienced but emphasised that improvement is always possible. "Good is not enough. You can do better," he remarked.
In recent weeks, Ten Hag has been linked with managerial roles at Borussia Dortmund and Feyenoord. However, these clubs have appointed Niko Kovac and Robin van Persie respectively. There were also rumours about a potential move to MLS, but Ten Hag has clarified his intentions.
The 55-year-old revealed he won't be returning to management this season. "I've already decided not to take any job until the 1st of July, so until the start of the new season," he stated. This decision allows him time to consider his next steps carefully.
Despite parting ways with Manchester United, Ten Hag remains a respected figure in football circles. His achievements during his tenure are acknowledged, even as he looks forward to future opportunities beyond this current season.
