Jack Grealish Anticipates Frosty Reception At Dublin Nations League Game

Jack Grealish may receive a cold welcome from Irish fans during the England vs Ireland Nations League match in Dublin, as per Callum Robinson. Grealish's history of switching allegiance from Ireland to England and his potential starting role due to Phil Foden's absence adds intrigue.

Jack Grealish is likely to face a hostile crowd if he plays for England against the Republic of Ireland on Saturday, according to Callum Robinson. Grealish, who was left out of England's Euro 2024 squad, has been recalled by interim manager Lee Carsley. With Phil Foden out due to illness, Grealish might start on the left in the Nations League match in Dublin.

Grealish has Irish grandparents and played for Ireland at youth levels before switching to England in 2015. Robinson, who played with Grealish at Aston Villa, expects the Irish fans to jeer him. "I'd be surprised if he doesn't because I think he gets booed anywhere he goes anyway—even in England," said Robinson, who also switched allegiance from England to Ireland.

Grealish s Frosty Dublin Welcome

"I think he'll be getting ready for a bit of abuse but that's part of it; it's part of the game. He's old enough and with being a senior player now, that stuff's going to come," Robinson added. "As I said, he gets it in English games [in the Premier League], I don't think there will be any change on Saturday; I think he will be getting it."

This will be the first time Ireland hosts England since a goalless friendly in June 2015. In competitive play, England last visited Ireland for a Euros qualifier in November 1990, which ended 1-1. The Three Lions won their last encounter with Ireland in November 2020 but have not secured back-to-back wins against them since victories in 1980 and 1985.

With Manchester City teammate Phil Foden sidelined due to illness, Grealish's inclusion seems probable. His experience and seniority mean he's accustomed to such pressures. The match promises an intense atmosphere as both teams vie for victory.

The upcoming clash adds another chapter to the storied rivalry between these two nations. Fans on both sides will be eager to see how Grealish performs under pressure and whether he can help secure a win for England.
