After the second consecutive defeat in the final of the European Championship Gareth Southgate parted ways with the English National Football team after staying eight years as the manager.
Despite being credited for transforming the Three Lions into one of the best teams of recent times he failed to deliver any silverware for the nation. Hence, after staying 102 matches at the helm Southgate quit his managerial job for England.

There are many names on the air who could replace Southgate. According to the latest news one of them would be the new England manager:
Lee Carsley
England’s current Under-21 manager has been with the FA for a long time and won the last Euro Under-21 Championship. Southgate also was the Under-21 manager before switching to the senior team. Though Carsley has a high chance to take the managerial role for England, it will probably be as an interim manager until next summer, when the FA would go for a big name.
Eddie Howe
Reportedly, the Newcastle manager has been on the radar of the FA to become the English manager for some time now. Taking Newcastle to the UCL 2023-24 also enhanced his claim for the post. Though Howe has a contract with the club till 2027, it will be difficult for him to turn down the offer.
Jurgen Klopp
The former Liverpool boss recently released himself from the helm of the club and currently is on a break after a more than eight-year-long tenure. In his tenure at EPL, he revived Liverpool, led the team to two back-to-back UCL finals and won one of them. He also won the EPL for the club ending a 30-year drought. Though the 57-year-old is most likely to be unavailable at the moment due to his break from work and reportedly he also has offers from the US and Germany to manage their respective national teams.
Pep Guardiola
The Manchester City boss has expressed his desire to manage a national team in the future in many past interviews and as a manager at the club level he has achieved everything one can hope to for multiple times with different teams. The Spanish maestro has already been with the English club for eight seasons now, which is too long for him to stay at the same club and his contract with City is ending at the end of the upcoming season. Many reports are suggesting that FA are ready to wait out one year for this legend but his high wages could be another hindrance.
Mauricio Pochettino
This high-profile foreign manager has early experience managing big clubs like PSG, Tottenham and Chelsea and was also linked with Man United. His reputation as a manager and the time he spent in English football makes him a serious candidate for the post of English manager. The current English squad is perfect for his 4-2-3-1 formation and would be more effective than Southgate due to his aggressive style of football. With his reputation for nurturing and improving young talents, the current English team full of young talents would be perfect for his job profile.
Besides these managers, there are many other high-profile names on the shortlist of FA. Graham Potter and Thomas Tuhcel will be the most suitable for the post. Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna is another choice with a growing popularity in English football.
