Pep Guardiola Encourages Jack Grealish To Regain Consistency Ahead Of Season's End

Pep Guardiola has called on Jack Grealish to rediscover his consistency at Manchester City as the season progresses. After a difficult period and limited appearances, Guardiola hopes Grealish can contribute significantly in the remaining months.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is optimistic about Jack Grealish regaining his form before the season concludes. Grealish has faced challenges over the past two years, appearing 24 times for City this season but starting only 13 matches. He has scored twice, against Salford City in the FA Cup and Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Last season, Grealish's performance also dipped, with just 26 starts and three goals, leading to his exclusion from Gareth Southgate's England squad for Euro 2024. Despite a recent hip injury, he has travelled to Spain for City's crucial Champions League clash with Real Madrid. In last week's first leg, he was substituted early as City lost 3-2 after initially leading.

Guardiola Encourages Grealish to Find Consistency

Guardiola explained Grealish's absence from City's 4-0 victory over Newcastle United, stating: "He is able to play a really good game like in the FA Cup, but not the consistency to play every week with three games." Guardiola hopes that in the remaining months of the season, Grealish can achieve consistent performances.

City were knocked out of last year's Champions League by Real Madrid after a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw at home. Bernardo Silva missed his Panenka attempt during that shootout but remains unfazed about taking another penalty if needed. "Definitely, I would put my hand up," Silva stated confidently.

Silva reflected on their previous encounter with Madrid and acknowledged their strengths: "We know that people we're speaking 50-50 at the start and maybe now Madrid are favourites." He emphasised that both teams have vulnerabilities and it's crucial to exploit them while minimising their own weaknesses.

The upcoming match against Real Madrid presents a significant challenge for Manchester City. However, Guardiola and his team remain determined to overcome obstacles and perform at their best. The focus will be on finding ways to control the game and reduce any potential suffering during play.
