Mikel Arteta is optimistic about Viktor Gyokeres' impact on Arsenal's attack this season. The Swedish forward scored his first goal for the club during a 3-0 win against Athletic Bilbao. Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz also found the net, helping Arsenal secure the Emirates Cup in their pre-season finale.
Arteta praised Gyokeres for his natural instincts on the field. "That's his nature," Arteta stated. "I think everything that he does... his movement, the way he times his runs, the way he predicts the next move, where the space can be and where the ball is going to land, that's the instinct that he has. That's why he's scored so many goals in the last few seasons, so that's not a coincidence, it's his ability and he's constantly looking for it."

Gyokeres demonstrated his skills by heading in a cross from Martin Zubimendi past Unai Simon. Arteta noted Gyokeres' ability to challenge defenders effectively. "I think he pins both centre-backs. He's a player that, when you leave him with the space one against one, he's going to destroy you," Arteta added.
Arteta believes Gyokeres will create opportunities for others as well. His presence ensures there is always a threat in front of goal. Despite scoring 68 goals for Sporting CP in two seasons, only two were headers. Most came from his right foot, with nine from his left.
The match saw Gyokeres leading Arsenal's attack with support from Saka, Martin Odegaard, and Gabriel Martinelli. Havertz came off the bench to score Arsenal's third goal. Arteta sees potential for Gyokeres and Havertz to play together effectively.
Arsenal faces Manchester United in their Premier League opener soon. They will also play against Leeds United and Liverpool before August ends. Arteta is pleased with both Gyokeres and Havertz's form, considering it a positive challenge for team selection.
"Kai can play in different positions as well," Arteta mentioned. "I think it elevates the quality in the squad, the goal threat that we have in the team, the options that we have to change and provide the opposition with a lot of problems."
The upcoming matches will test Arsenal's new attacking dynamics as they aim for success this season.
