Hearts Eye Scottish Premiership Title In Celtic Park Decider With McInnes Confident Of Upset

Hearts head to Celtic Park on Saturday knowing the Scottish Premiership title will be decided there. Derek McInnes’ side become champions if they avoid defeat, while a Celtic victory means the Glasgow club retain the Scottish Premiership title and overtake Hearts at the top.

Hearts chase a first league crown since the 1959-60 season, a gap of more than six decades. The Scottish Premiership title would confirm this campaign as one of the most dramatic finishes in recent years, with the decisive match being played on Celtic’s home ground.

Hearts bid to clinch title at Celtic Park

Data from the Opta supercomputer underlines how tight this Scottish Premiership title contest appears. Across thousands of simulations, Celtic emerge as champions in 50.4% of scenarios. Hearts take the Scottish Premiership title in 49.6%, highlighting how evenly balanced this final day meeting is.

If Hearts secure the Scottish Premiership title, they will be the first club outside Celtic and Rangers to do so since Alex Ferguson’s Aberdeen in 1984-85. That would stop a sequence of 40 straight championships won by the Old Firm and mark a major shift in Scottish league outcomes.

There is also another statistical target for Hearts in this Scottish Premiership title clash. Should Hearts win and take all three points, they will be the first team in Scottish football to record six league victories over Celtic and Rangers combined in a single season.

McInnes feels Hearts are ready for the demands of this Scottish Premiership title decider. McInnes said: "It's a perfect ending to a season for the league, for Scottish football, for drama and excitement. It's pure box office. I felt for a while it would go the full way, and we've been preparing for that. We knew we'd have to get good wins, and obviously, Celtic have shown improvements. Fair play to them and to our boys for making this the situation. It's important now that we have that one big performance in us to try and get over the line."

Only around 800 Hearts supporters will be inside Celtic Park, yet McInnes expects huge interest back in Edinburgh as the Scottish Premiership title is settled. Asked about the likely scenes, McInnes added: "It'll be bedlam, it'll be an unbelievable atmosphere. There might be people out there who think everything's back on scriptif Celtic win their home game, they win the league. But we've ripped the script up so often this season, and we've got one more in us, I think, and it's up to us to try and make that happen."

As Hearts and Celtic prepare for this Scottish Premiership title showdown, the narrative is clear. Celtic rely on a home win to stay on top, while Hearts need one last resilient display. The outcome will decide whether the Old Firm sequence continues or a new champion steps forward.
