Serhou Guirassy opened the scoring in the 33rd minute after Waldemar Anton provided an assist, allowing him to tap in his ninth league goal this season. Guirassy has now scored in four consecutive Bundesliga matches for Dortmund. His performance follows a strong showing against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League, where he became joint-top scorer with nine goals.

Maximilian Beier extended Dortmund's lead in the 63rd minute, finishing a cutback from Ramy Bensebaini. However, Heidenheim quickly responded when Mathias Honsak reduced the deficit just a minute later, creating a tense finish to the match. With this victory, Borussia Dortmund now sits 10th in the Bundesliga table with 29 points from 20 matches. Meanwhile, Heidenheim remains third from bottom with only 14 points.
