Heroes thrashed SAIL; advance into main round in Durand Cup

New Delhi, Oct 28 (UNI) New Delhi Heroes thrashed SAIL City club 4-0 to storm into the main draw of 120th edition of the Durand Cup football tournament here today.

The match billed as a do or die match turned out to be a complete whimper as the Delhi club were in complete command from the word go.

They surged ahead in the 18th minute thanks to Harvinder Singh and ten minutes later Harrison netted the ball again to extend the lead.

The two early goals acted as a tonic for New Delhi Heroes and provided the required motivation for the entire team thereafter.

Harvinder Singh struck again in the 30th to score a spectacular third goal and three minutes later Gyan Moyon scored the fourth goal before the lemon break.

In the second session of play City players did show some aggression but it was too late by then. Heroes played beautifully the whole time even though no further goals were added in the second half.

New Delhi Heroes will now clash with Air India on November 1st in the main draw.
