Rasmus Hojlund is focused on securing his position at Manchester United for the upcoming season, despite ongoing rumours about his future. Reports indicate that United are seeking a new striker during this transfer window, with Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig being a potential target. Additionally, Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins and Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson have been linked to the club.
Hojlund showcased his skills by scoring the first goal in Ruben Amorim's team's 4-1 victory over Bournemouth in the Premier League Summer Series on Wednesday. Since joining United in August 2023, the 22-year-old has netted 26 goals in 95 matches across all competitions. Last season, he scored 10 goals in 52 appearances, though only four were in the Premier League.

Despite having 58 shots last season, Hojlund struggled to find consistent form. However, Amorim praised him after the Bournemouth match. Hojlund expressed his clear intentions: "My plan is very clear," said Hojlund. "That is for me to stay and fight for my spot, whatever happens. Competition is fine with me. It sharpens me."
Hojlund remains optimistic about facing competition and believes it enhances his performance. He stated, "I'm more than ready. I'm feeling sharp, so I welcome everything that comes." Reflecting on his time at United, he mentioned how Anthony Martial's injuries led to increased game time for him.
Hojlund acknowledged that while he desires to play every game, sharing responsibilities would have been beneficial early on. He noted, "You're not going to tell me I shouldn't be playing because I want to play every game." Despite being young at 22, he understands not every striker scores prolifically by this age.
The forward admitted last season was challenging but sees it as a learning experience. He remarked, "Last season was tough on us all. I should have done better. Everybody knows." Yet, he remains confident about improving both individually and as a team.
Hojlund believes he's developing well and becoming stronger in fundamental skills: "But I've learned a lot. I think you can see it in my game." He feels positive about the team's progress: "We are progressing in the right way and looking forward to what's coming."
The Danish player is eager to contribute more effectively this season and help Manchester United achieve better results collectively.
