Rasmus Hojlund is eager to break his goal drought, but this eagerness might be affecting his performance, according to Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim. The Danish forward has not scored in his last six matches across all competitions, with his last goal coming in a 3-0 victory over Leicester City in mid-March. This remains his only goal of 2025 and one of just three in 28 Premier League appearances during a challenging season for the Red Devils, who are currently 14th in the league.
Hojlund has been more effective in the Europa League, scoring five goals, bringing his total tally to eight for the season. This is half of what he achieved during his debut season at Old Trafford in 2023-24. Despite this, Amorim remains optimistic about Hojlund's potential to find the back of the net again soon.

During a pre-match press conference before United's upcoming game against Bournemouth, Amorim expressed support for Hojlund. "A striker needs to score goals, so we try to help him," Amorim stated. "He is trying really hard, and he wants things so bad, he makes it worse." He noted that Hojlund created a chance against Wolves and is making progress on minor aspects of his game.
Hojlund's statistics reveal some challenges this season. With three goals from 24 shots in the Premier League - nine of which were on target - he has underperformed compared to his expected goals (xG) of 3.36. His shot conversion rate stands at 12.5%, yet he ranks third among United's forwards, trailing Marcus Rashford (25%) and Amad Diallo (15%).
Despite these struggles, Amorim believes that Hojlund will eventually score again as he continues to refine his skills. The manager's confidence suggests that patience and perseverance could lead to improved performances from the young striker.
