Mohammedan SC are currently sitting at the top of the I-league table with 34 points, 5 points ahead of 2nd-placed Gokulam Kerala. If they can keep up their form, then they could win the competition this season.
This will see them get promoted to the Indian Super League. However, they also need to pass the ICLS1 regulations and criteria. They are set to hold this year's AGM on March 3 and might bring up investor issues in that meeting.

Last year's I-league winner Punjab FC got promoted to the ISL 2023-24. The same is set to happen next season for whichever club wins this season's I-League. As it seems, Mohammedan SC could be the one to take the spot.
However, to play in ISL 2024-25, only winning the I-League won't work. There are five criteria the Black Panthers will need to pass the Indian Club Licensing System (ICLS) license for India's first division league, the Indian Super League.
The criteria include - sporting criteria, infrastructure criteria, personnel & administrative criteria, legal criteria, and financial criteria. Even if they pass easily in the other criteria, Mohammedan SC will need further help with the infrastructure and financial criteria.
They already have an investor in Bunkerhill Private Limited who currently own a 51% share of the club. The club President Kamruddin Bobby said that the percentage will increase later on when they qualify for ISL.
He said, “It will increase further when we come to ISL later. We are looking for supportive investors for their cooperation. Bunkerhill is on our side in this.” These financial issues might arise during the AGM on March 3.
