Lionel Messi continued his sensational form in Major League Soccer as Inter Miami cruised to a dominant 5-1 win over New York Red Bulls at the Red Bull Arena on Sunday.
The Argentine maestro struck twice in the second half, adding to Telasco Segovia's brace and Jordi Alba's goal, as the Herons delivered a commanding performance to bounce back from their previous defeat.

The hosts took the lead in the 14th minute through Alexander Hack, but Jordi Alba quickly equalised ten minutes later with a powerful finish that levelled the contest. Segovia then turned the game on its head, firing Miami into the lead in the 27th minute and doubling his tally in stoppage time at the end of the first half to hand the visitors a 3-1 advantage going into the break.
After the restart, it was Lionel Messi's show. The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner found the net in the 60th minute, slicing through New York's defence with trademark finesse. He added his second in the 75th minute, capitalising on a lapse at the back to slot home Miami's fifth and complete the rout.
With this brace, Messi extended what has been a remarkable run of form in front of goal, though it marked the end of his record-breaking streak of five consecutive league matches with multiple goals. The run began against Montreal in a 4-2 victory and continued with doubles against Columbus, Montreal again, New England Revolution, and Nashville.
Messi's exploits during this stretch have not only powered Miami's resurgence in the league but have also made history. His two-goal showing against Nashville previously made him the first player in MLS history to record more than one goal in five straight regular-season games.
Sunday's win comes at a crucial time for Miami, who were looking to respond after a 3-0 loss to Cincinnati earlier in the week. With Messi back in rhythm and Miami regaining momentum, the Herons are shaping up as serious contenders as the season heats up.
