Lionel Messi has been credited with helping a New York Red Bulls fan pay for her upcoming knee surgery without spending a single penny.

Amanda Libre, of West Orange, New Jersey, is a season ticket holder for the MLS team New York Red Bulls and attends games at Red Bull Arena regularly. She will, however, miss her team's August 27 much-anticipated home game against Inter Miami for a very good reason.

Messi has already been a revelation for Inter Miami, scoring seven goals in four games and utterly dominating the Herons. With the form the World Cup winner is carrying, undoubtedly she was excited to see Messi take on her favorite MLS club.

However, her excitement took an unforeseen turn when a torn meniscus on May 1 cast a shadow over her passion for the game.

She promptly required surgery on her injury. With her confronting a difficult decision to sell her season ticket for the upcoming Red Bulls-Inter Miami game or attend the spectacle personally, Amanda picked the road that would eventually ease her medical problems.



With $500 left over for her upcoming knee surgery, the 35-year-old decided to resell her ticket rather than attend the Red Bulls-Inter Miami match.

She managed to sell her ticket for the game for a massive $505 out of which she will get $455 after the cut-in transaction.

Not wittingly, but the influence of Lionel Messi surely made life more easy for Amanda who is now looking to see him in action at some point in the future.

Lionel Messi will feature next for Inter Miami on Friday when his side will compete in the Leagues Cup quarter-final against Charlotte FC.
