How Manchester United's starting XI could look like for 2023/24 season with new signings
The 2022-23 season has certainly ended on a positive note for Manchester United and new manager Erik ten Hag who guided the Red Devils back into the Champions League alongside a Carabao Cup win.
However, the squad still needs more consistency and quality in their roster so that they can match the standard of rivals Manchester City and other top European sides.

To achieve that plenty will depend on their summer recruitment. The core of the current squad is likely to remain the same however, it is believed that three or four summer incoming are on the agenda.
Adding a prolific goalscorer is the priority in the transfer window. A number of top players have already been discussed in that position.
Tottenham Hotspur star forward Harry Kane has been linked with a move. However, with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy adamant about not selling him to a league rival and placing almost a €100m price tag on the England international, the move seems too hard to crack. The same issue can be said about Napoli's Victor Osimhen.
Following all these factors, United apparently have shifted their attention to Atalanta youngster Rasmus Hojlund.
The young Denmark international promises to be an exciting talent in the long run and looks to be the most realistic answer to Ten Hag’s striker hunt. He could be available for a fee close to €60-80m with add-ons and the deal looks feasible.
Another potential move that seems to have gathered pace involves Chelsea midfielder, Mason Mount. The Dutch coach apparently wants another midfielder who can be an upgrade over Eriksen.
The 24-year-old midfielder is Ten Hag's choice. United have been in constant touch with Chelsea and the player and an agreement is likely to be reached within a couple of weeks.
Another key upgradation United are looking for is the goalkeeping position. Despite David De Gea winning the Golden Glove last season, the 32-year-old has had a massive downfall in the last 2-3 years.
His current contract has ended with United with the Red Devils already offering him a new deal with reduced terms. But Ten Hag is almost surely pushing for a move for a new keeper as well.
His former Ajax goalkeeper and current Inter number one Andre Onana is his preferred choice. While Porto's 23-year-old keeper Diogo Costa is also on the wishlist. Both the move will depend upon the fee demanded by the respective clubs. It is understood that any fee close to €50-60m could be favourable in landing any of them.
If United can get these three players, they are all likely to be immediately involved in the starting XI. The rest of the squad could be similar like last season.
The backline will consist of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez in the middle with Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan Bissaka in the fullback role.
The midfield will have Casemiro as a defensive midfielder and Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount as two other midfielders. The frontline will have Marcus Rashford and Antony as wide forwards while the number nine role could be led by new arrival Hojlund.
Manchester United's Potential Starting XI for the 2023-23 season:
Goalkeeper: Costa/Onana,
Defence: Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Martinez, Shaw
Midfield: Casemiro, Mount, Fernandes
Attack: Antony, Hojlund, Rashford.
