By MyKhel Staff

Liverpool have secured the signing of French striker Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt in a deal worth up to £79 million.

The transfer includes an initial fee of £69 million plus £10 million in add-ons, primarily linked to Liverpool winning trophies and Ekitike's individual contributions. The 23-year-old forward has agreed to a six-year contract that will keep him at Liverpool until 2031.

Ekitike arrives at Anfield after impressing in the Bundesliga last season, where he scored 15 goals in 33 league appearances, totaling 22 goals in 48 matches across all competitions. His performances helped Eintracht Frankfurt secure a Champions League qualification spot. The club had valued him at around €100 million, making this a substantial but agreed-upon fee.

How much Wage will Hugo Ekitike earn at Liverpool?

Regarding wages, reports suggest Ekitike's weekly salary is unlikely to reach the £250,000 figure circulating in some German media, as that would place him among Liverpool's highest earners, a position more likely held by players like Mohamed Salah. Instead, his wages are believed to be closer to half that amount, in line with Liverpool's pay structure for players of his age and experience, similar to recent signings Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, and Cody Gakpo.

Liverpool pursued Ekitike after being told Newcastle United's Alexander Isak was not for sale. The club values Ekitike as a versatile centre-forward who brings both goal-scoring ability and creativity, offering intelligent movement and team play that Liverpool believes justifies the investment. Coach Arne Slot envisions him as a potential No. 9 who can enhance Liverpool's attacking options amid likely departures such as Darwin Núñez and possibly Luis Díaz. Ekitike is yet to make his senior international debut for France but sees the Premier League as a platform to push for national team selection ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Ekitike has already travelled to London for his medical and is expected to join Liverpool's preseason tour following completion of his transfer. His signing is part of Liverpool's aggressive summer recruitment, pushing their total spending towards £300 million as they rebuild their squad for the upcoming campaign
