East Bengal coach Oscar Bruzon has apologized to fans in a remarkable fashion after the team's horrific display in the Kalinga Super Cup match against Kerala Blasters on Sunday (April 20).
The defending champions made a sorry surrender in Bhubaneswar, as they were defeated 0-2 at the hands of the Blasters.

The breakthrough came late in the first half when Spanish forward Jesus Jiménez calmly slotted home from the penalty spot in the 43rd minute after a defensive error by East Bengal. Kerala Blasters doubled their advantage in the 64th minute through Noah Sadaoui, who unleashed a ferocious strike that left the East Bengal goalkeeper with no chance.
East Bengal, under Oscar Bruzon, looked off-colour for much of the encounter. They struggled to match the intensity of their opponents and lacked the cutting edge in the final third. And after the defeat, Bruzon expressed his dismay at his team and was unable to express a message for the fans as well.
The East Bengal faithful made their presence at the stadium but they were only left disappointed with the lackluster performance. When asked about a message for the fans, Bruzon could only say that he is ashamed and the fans don't deserve this version of the club.
'I am ashamed. The fans have been backing us all. They didn't create any problems despite our poor performances and the poor season. For me, it is a shame to even give a message to our fans. I am tired of saying that the fans are the driving factor of the team. They are the one for whom we need to die on the pitch, and when the team doesn't, the coach feels ashamed," a passionate Bruzon said at the post-match press conference.
With the defeat against Kerala Blasters, the season for East Bengal is over. And the coach has already called for the areas they need to improve in the coming season.
"I came here at a very difficult time. We got our first points in the seventh game of the season. So coming from behind was tough for us. We started to build our confidence, but today was not enough. Players, coaches, staff and our management are very sad. It should be a turning point and how we do that is part of my discussion with the management," he added.
