Ibrahimovic's wonder strike, the best ever goal in history?

Stockholm, Nov 16: Zlatan Ibrahimovic single-handedly thrashed England 4-2 in a friendly game at the Friends Arena in Stockholm on Wednesday.

On the night when Steven Gerrard marked his 100 cap for his country, only the sixth player to do so in English history, the Big Swede, as he is well known, scored a hat-trick and a stunning fourth goal 30 yards out, described as the best ever goal in the history of football.

Ibrahimovic, currently playing for the cash-rich French club Paris Saint-Germain, has been criticised for not performing against Premier League clubs. According to him, he performs well when he is angry and a game of football is like a fight and what could have irked him so badly was the dirty comparison to Andy Carroll made by England fans.

But the same English fans were left applauding the wonder strike during injury-time. The former AC Milan, Inter Milan and Barcelona striker opened the scoring only to see Danny Welbeck and Steven Caulker put the visiting side ahead in the first half.

Ibrahimovic struck back to score the winner just six minutes from time, eventually completing his hat-trick after Roy Hodgson shuffled his back-line with numerous substitution in the 75 minutes.

But the 6 feet 5 inches striker stepped forward to seal the game with a sensational propeller kick. England stopper Joe Hart misjudges a clearance from the Swedish defence as Ibrahimovic tries to put pressure on him.

Hart fails to head the ball far enough as Ibrahimovic leaps 8 feet above the ground to smash in from 30 yards out. England defender Ryan Shawcross fails to clear the ball as the ball bounces directly inside the goal-line.

Some football greats have described the fourth goal as the best they have ever seen while the wonder strike has already crossed 300,000 views on YouTube.

Ibrahimovic became only the second player to score a hat-trick against England after Marco van Basten in 1988 but the only player to score four.

The 31-year-old is currently the most expensive player in Europe, with a total of £150 million worth transfers across six clubs. Ibrahimovic also has a unique record of winning the national football league with all the clubs he has played for except his current club PSG.
