'Igor Stimac is a disgrace': Former India captain makes scathing attack on Indian Football Team coach

Former India captain Dejit Ghosh has made a scathing attack to the coach of Indian football team Igor Stimac. Check out what he had to say against the Indian coach.

Igor Stimac, the Indian football team coach, is under fire again as this time he has received a scathing attack from eminent Indian footballer Debjit Ghosh.

Debjit Ghosh, a former Indian football team captain, made a scathing attack on Stimac on Wednesday (March 15), expressing his grievance against Stimac's selection policy for the Indian football team.

The Indian football team is set to play a Tri-Nation tournament in March during the international football break. The Indian coach Igor Stimac selected his team for the tournament and the lack of players from ATK Mohun Bagan has irked Ghosh, who raised his voice against the baffling selection policy of the Indian coach.

Ghosh, who has played 16 matches for India from 1997 to 2006, took to his social media and wrote a passionate rant against Stimac, for not selecting Pritam Kotal and Vishal Kaith for the upcoming matches.

Kotal and Kaith both play for ATK Mohun Bagan and have been stellar performers for the ISL club. The Mariners will meet Bengaluru FC in the final of the ISL and the duo have been two standout performers for the Kolkata giants. And their omission has shocked Ghosh, to say the least.

"Igor Stimac has been turned out to be a laughing stock. This is ridiculous! The two most in-form players of the season - Pritam Kotal and Vishal Kaith have been left out from the Indian national team," Ghosh wrote.

Ghosh went on to question the overwhelming numbers of Bengaluru FC players in the team and termed Stimac as a disgrace, urging the fans to raise their voices against the Croatian.

"No offence, but I really got confused if it was Bengaluru FC team (8 players in National Team) or the Indian national team. I believe Mr. Stimac has been considering his job as a holiday package in India and nothing else. Shame," he continued.

His offensive rant against Igor Stimac is not a bolt from the blue though as the Croatian manager has been criticised for India's lack of progress during his tenure. The former Croatia international took the Indian national team job in 2019 and has only a 30 per cent winning rate. Under his tutelage, India have only 9 wins out of 30 games.
