Ilkay Gundogan has rejoined Manchester City from Barcelona, as confirmed by the Premier League champions on Friday. Gundogan, who played 304 matches for City between 2016 and 2023, has signed a one-year contract with Pep Guardiola's team. The 33-year-old midfielder won 14 trophies during his first spell at City, including their first Champions League title last year.Last season, Gundogan was instrumental for Barcelona, contributing to 19 goals (five goals and 14 assists) in all competitions. He also created the most chances in LaLiga with 97 and completed 2,116 of his 2,337 passes. Only Joules Kounde had better passing stats in the Barca squad.Gundogan expressed his joy about returning to Manchester City on the club's website: "My seven years at Manchester City were a time of pure contentment for me, both on and off the pitch. I grew as a person and a player, developed a special relationship with the City fans and enjoyed amazing success.
