India End 20-Year Wait, Qualify for AFC U20 Asian Cup With 3-0 Win Over Bangladesh
India have secured qualification for the AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027, ending a 20-year wait to return to the continental tournament after a commanding 3-0 victory over Bangladesh in their final Group B qualifier in Tashkent on Sunday.
The Blue Colts finished second in Group B with six points from three matches and booked their place among the seven best runners-up from the qualifying groups. Uzbekistan topped the group with nine points after defeating Syria.

India's last appearance in the AFC U20 Asian Cup came in 2006, making this qualification a significant achievement for Mahesh Gawali's side.
Danny, Vishal and Arbash on target for India
India started the decisive encounter cautiously but gradually took control and opened the scoring in the 25th minute.
Danny Meitei Laishram capitalised on a well-worked attacking move to put India ahead. Hateem Ali's pressure forced Bangladesh into a mistake, allowing the ball to reach Danny, who kept his composure inside the penalty area before finding the net.
The goal gave India confidence as they began to dominate possession and dictate the tempo. Danny came close to adding a second in the 34th minute when his looping free-kick tested Bangladesh goalkeeper Raj Chowdhury.
India continued their positive approach after the interval and doubled their advantage in the 60th minute. A long throw into the penalty area was flicked on by Rishikanta Meitei Laishram, with Vishal Yadav producing an acrobatic finish to make it 2-0.
Bangladesh attempted to respond after going two goals down, but India remained disciplined defensively and prevented their opponents from creating a meaningful comeback.
Md Arbash made an immediate impact after coming on. Seven minutes after coming on, he completed a flowing attacking move with a powerful left-footed strike into the roof of the net to put India 3-0 ahead.
India then comfortably managed the closing stages, with Aniket Yadav, Omang Dodum and Daniyal Makakmayum also introduced as the Blue Colts saw out a comprehensive victory.
A major milestone for Indian football
The qualification marks India's return to the AFC U20 Asian Cup for the first time since 2006. The 2027 edition will be held in China from March 24 to April 10, 2027.
The tournament will also carry significant importance beyond continental honours, with the top four teams qualifying for the FIFA U20 World Cup 2027.
