Both teams enjoyed spells of possession early on, but Honduras gradually increased the pressure with a higher press. India created two promising opportunities through Ronandev and Nara Meitei Loushambam. Ronandev's fourth-minute attempt went over the crossbar, while Nara's free-kick in the 15th minute narrowly missed the target.

Honduras broke the deadlock in the 18th minute when goalkeeper Jenit Ningthoujam's misplaced pass allowed Flores to intercept and score.

India responded strongly after the restart, with Ronandev producing a moment of brilliance in the 31st minute. R Lalremruatfela set up the attack before the forward's cross-turned-shot flew into the far top corner, leaving goalkeeper Santiago Borjas helpless.

The Blue Colts pushed for a second goal, but Borjas denied Nibas Meetei Wahengbam, while Muhammad Sohil Khan's long-range effort went wide.

Honduras regained the lead in the 37th minute. Josué Linares delivered a cutback, and after Sohil's attempted clearance ricocheted off Jenit, Amaya capitalised on the loose ball to score.

India nearly forced another equaliser in the closing seconds, but Nara's long-range effort struck the crossbar. India will face Trinidad and Tobago at 7:45 PM IST on Wednesday, with the match available live on DAZN.
