First-Half Breakthrough

The match began with India asserting dominance from the whistle. In just the third minute, Neha's pinpoint cross found Sibani Devi Nongmeikapam, who was inches away from converting. Myanmar responded with a few counter-attacks, the most dangerous arriving in the ninth minute when Su Su Khin nearly capitalised on a chest-down from Yin Loon Eain.

India's decisive moment arrived in the 27th minute. Pooja initiated a counter-attack down the right, delivering a cross that sailed past the Myanmar defence. Neha, stationed on the opposite flank, looped it back into the danger zone, where Pooja, having surged forward, bundled the ball over the line with her torso. The goal settled Indian nerves, and they controlled possession to take the lead into halftime.

Myanmar's Second-Half Siege

The second half flipped the script, with Myanmar fuelled by passionate home support. Goalkeeper Monalisha Devi, already boasting two clean sheets in the tournament, produced a superb 48th-minute save to deny Su Su Khin. As the hosts piled on relentless pressure, India's defensive line - marshalled by captain Shubhangi Singh - stood firm.

Drama struck in the 80th minute when Moe Pwint Phyu's header from an Ei Thet Phyo cross hit the upright and rolled along the goal line, only for Monalisha to claw it away. Phyu hit the woodwork again in the 90th minute after a deflection off Shubhangi, moments before India countered with Sibani's cross to Sulanjana Raul, whose header rattled the crossbar.

A Night to Remember

The final whistle confirmed India's place in the 2026 continental showpiece, ending a 20-year wait since their last qualification in 2006. Head coach and players celebrated amid cheers from travelling supporters, marking a defining moment for Indian women's football at the youth level.
