A respectable show by the Indian defense as they block barrage of attacks by the Australians on the night. Not much to talk about Indian forwards as they were not allowed to foray into the box except for the first 10 minutes of the game, including a header off-target by Sunil Chhetri!
With two goals down in goal difference, India haven't suffered big damage and could make a recovery against Syria and Uzbekistan, with the latter still a tough challenge!

The Indian football team kicks off their campaign in the continental tournament against title contenders Australia in Group B at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan on Saturday (January 13).
India, who are ranked 102 in FIFA, are the lowest ranked team in the group and are massive underdogs against World No. 25 Australia. The other two nations in the group are Uzbekistan (68) and Syria (92), who face off later tonight.
India have qualified for consecutive Asian Cups for the first time in their football history, giving up just one goal in the qualifying round's third round. However, head coach Igor Stimac is not getting ahead of himself and has prioritised World Cup Qualifiers later in the year. The main reason behind it him not being alloted a one-month national camp as most of the top Indian clubs were reluctant to release their players.
The Blue Tigers, who have only scored once in their first two games, are currently tied with Kuwait for the second-best spot in Group A of World Cup qualification, but they are behind on goal differential.
India had a tremendously successful year in which they won the Tri-Nation Series, the InterContinental Cup, and the South Asian Federation Football Championship. The Blue Tigers have not fared well in this competition, only progressing past the Asian Cup group stage once, finishing as runners-up in 1964.
Meanwhile, Australia have higher expectations going into this AFC Cup since making their maiden appearance in 2011. Due to Graham Arnold's ability to get the most out of this team, Australia have won their previous five competitive games against Asian nations, including a 2-0 victory against Bahrain last weekend.
They have defeated their last three Asian opponents by a total score of 10-0, and they have not lost to an opponent from that region since March 2022 (a 1-0 loss to Saudi Arabia).
