India vs Australia Match Result: Indian football faced the Socceroos in the same stadium where Australia took on Argentina back in the 2022 World Cup. However, it seemed Indian fans took over the Ahmed bin Ali stadium and "India! India! India!" chants rang out beautifully all over the venue in Al Rayyan.
However, to the fans' dismay, even though India started well and performed admirably in the first half, it fell apart in the second half. The Socceroos ended up winning the match by a 2-0 margin as goals from Jackson Irvine (50') and Jordan Bos (73') sealed Blue Tigers' fate.

The India Football Team began the match with an upbeat tempo. Lallianzuala Chhangte was busy as a bee from the very beginning. He was responsible for two build-ups in the first ten minutes and launched India's first counter-attack, which didn't find Sunil Chhetri.
India came close to taking the 1-0 lead from the second chance. Poorary floating cross found Sunil Chhetri whose launching header missed the goal by a narrow margin. Australia had been patient from the beginning. It bore fruit as they had the ball almost completely in the Indian half for the last 20 minutes of the first half. They got some brilliant chances, but ultimately failed to breach India's defense.
Australia got the goal that they so dearly hoped for five minutes into the start of the second half. The Socceroos broke the deadlock when Jackson Irvine positioned himself at the right place in the right time to slot the ball into the back of the net.
But who is to be blamed for the goal? Unfortunately, it will be on India's experienced custodian Gurpreet Singh Sandhu. Failing to clear his defensive lines, he fisted the ball right in front of the Aussie midfielder, who graciously accepted the chance.
Jordan Bos was going to be a threat and he delivered as he came off the bench. His first touch became his first and the second goal for the national team when he simply tapped in a pass from Riley McGree coming from the right flank.
In conclusion, India's defense showed promise. So did the Mumbai City star Chhangte on the left flank. Barring the mistake that's sure to haunt Sandhu, India showed promise that should be carried out in their next match against Uzbekistan on January 18.
