The Indian Men's Football Team kickstart their Asian Games 2023 campaign today and they are up against the hosts China. The two Asian neighbours lock horns in Hangzhou in search of a decent start to the group stages. India are grouped in Group A of the Asian Games along with China, Myanmar and Bangladesh. The Blue Tigers are hoping for a decent start in the tournament as they look for a decent outing in this edition of the Asian Games.
The Blue Tigers manager Igor Stimac has recently said about the preparations coming into the game as the team is supposed to play today without any practice session after reaching China. It is to be seen how they cope against a strong China side. Sunil Chhetri will be leading the Indian team in this campaign, while there are senior players like Sandesh Jhingan in the team as well.

Full Time in Hangzhou as India suffer a crushing defeat.

Not the best second half, but we will come back stronger in the next game.

The Final whistle blows and a hapless Indian side has been taken to the cleaners by China, especially in the second half. It was 1-1 at the break but China put four swords in the Indian heart and emerged as 5-1 victors. The Blue Tigers will be hoping to regroup and come back stronger as they take on Bangladesh in the next match.
Goal!! China score their 5th goal as Haofan scores a spectacular goal. The five star performance from China has a cherry on top of the cake.
Four minutes added in Hangzhou. And India will be eager to pass it and regroup ahead of the next game.
What a block!! Vincy Barretto was through and his shot is superbly blocked. The Chinese defender denies the Indian player as it remains 4-1 for China.
India's focus will now surely shift to the next matches. Two wins against Bangladesh and Myanmar will be enough to propel them to the next round.
Sunil Chhetri and Amarjeet Singh Kiyam are taken off as Rohit Danu and Samuel Kynshi come on for India.
India are trying to play between themselves. Clearly the plan will be to stop the conceding here, as any more goals conceded will have detrimental effects on India's chances of progressing to the next round.
Tao had a massive chance to score his hattrick there. But the Chinese player strikes it wide. And as we speak, Amarjeet Singh Kiyam is now being treated on the pitch.
China are preparing a triple substitution. The game is in their pocket and the hosts are trying some of their fringe players.
The Indian players are limping at the moment and it is not looking good for them. The players of Blue Tigers have been no match in the second half and lack of fitness is quite vivid.
Goal! A simple goal for China as Tao scores a brace. India are without an idea in the defence and are being schooled by the Chinese attack.
Goal!! China have made it 3-1. The initial shot is saved by Gurmeet but Tao puts the rebound in. IND 1 CHN 3 (72')
Rahul KP's attempted cross is cleared at the near post. Not the best of corners from the Indian goal scorer.
Rahul KP's ball to Rahim Ali is sent in by the latter into the box. Sunil Chhetri was there but the China defender cleared it and India have a corner.
Tired legs for India and the lack of physical freshness is quite visible in the Indian side. China will be aiming to capitalize on that and kill this game.
Sandesh Jhingan finds Sumeet Rathi with a superb ball, but Rathi's cross is too close to the China goalkeeper who claims the ball with ease. And Sumeet Rathi is down with cramps as well it seems.
Amarjeet Singh Kiyam's first touch is decent and then the player is fouled. Kiyam seems to have an issue with his calf as well.
Sandesh Jhingan lost the ball there but then reedems himself by winning it back. The Indian defender takes no chance and clears it first time.
India will have to try and find their conviction back here. They are making a change as Bryce Miranda is replaced by Vincy Barreto.
Sunil Chhetri tries to slip a cute ball for Rahim Ali but the China defense stands tall again.
Gurmeet takes a short pass to Jhingan who finds Bryce Miranda on the left-hand side. But the no. 17 of India loses the ball.
China are coming forward with purpose again. The hosts are now piling the pressure on the Indian defence as they look for a two-goal cushion.
Goaal!! A superb strike from outside the box and China are ahead again. Dai Weijun has given the hosts the lead again.
Gao makes a poor challenge on Sunil Chhetri as that was a clear tug of shirt. The Chinese player is shown a Yellow Card.
Sunil Chhetri and Rahul KP had the possession and it looked like the latter was fouled, but China win the ball and they have the possession. Then the ball came again to the Indian captain but the shot is skied.
The 2nd half starts in Hangzhou. And India are already looking a better outfit at the start of this 2nd half.
If you compare the start with the finish in the 1st half, it will be a tough maze to solve as the Indian team has improved by leaps and bounds in the span of the fist 45 minutes. And it is quite vivid that the penalty save was the key moment in the turn around.
1️⃣ Rahul KP 2️⃣ Gurmeet Singh 3️⃣ Sunil Chhetri
✔The Chinese team had the lion's share of possession in the match, but the Indian team never gave up. ✔ The penalty save by Gurmeet and his other saves. ✔ Sunil Chhetri with his drive and enthusiasm on the pitch. ✔ Rahul KP scores an absolute stunning goal to restore parity for the Indian team.
Igor Stimac on lack of practice for Team India
"Having two days preparation prior to big games never served us well...It's obvious how India is different when there is long camp versus a short camp," Stimac said. He also confirmed that Sunil Chhetri and Sandesh Jhingan may not play any part in this match.
