The stage for the Award ceremony has been erected and the presentation is soon to begin
Sunil Chhetri revealed that Igor Stimac gave them a wake up call at the half time and said words that he can't repeat on national television but was the tonic the side needed after playing a bad first half.
Chhangte was unbelievable in the second half as he was the sight of terror for Lebanon defense with his pace and trickery and he eventually scored the decider in the 66th minute on the rebound after Naorem Mahesh Singh shot was saved.

It was a tale of two halves as India struggled in the first half against the barrage of Lebanon counter attacks. All that was forgotten as early as first minute in the second half as Sunil Chhetri scored a tap in after brilliant move by Chhangte down the right flank. To be continued...
Speaking after the match to the official broadcaster, Coach Igor Stimac said India saved their best performance for the last as he was happy to see his side the best 45 minutes in the second half.

The referee blows the final whistle! India have won the Intercontinental Cup! The 2018 champions, who conceded the title to North Korea in 2019, have made it their own again!
Noarem Mahesh Singh with a header on target! But Lebanon goalkeeper makes a diving save to deny the third goal
Igor Stimac takes off both the goal scorers as Chhetri and Chhangte are replaced by Subhasish Bose and Nandhakumar Sekhar. Rahim Ali has now moved to the striker position while Nandha joins the wing. Meanwhile the referee adds four minutes of injury time
Take a look at Lallinzuala Chhangte's goal on the rebound, which sealed the game for India.

Noarem Mahesh Singh runs down the left flank on the counter and gets better of right back Hussein Zein as well with a brilliant move but his resulting cross was too powerful and went out for a goal kick.

Chhangte is taken down close to the box by Hussein Zien after Naorem Mahesh Singh won the ball in the Lebanon half and played the Indian winger free. However, the referee doesn't think it's a foul.
Maatouk shoot the ball off target after he was fed with a perfect cross by Mahdi Zein from left flank! A chance goes begging for Lebanon, who could have got back into the game in the closing minute to put India under pressure. That was also a caution for India that the game is not over.
Another tactical switch by coach Stimac as Chhangte has now switched flanks with Rahim Ali while Rohit is closer to Anirudh Thapa in the midfield. Lebanon meanwhile are struggling to get past the Indian defensive line despite two quick counter opportunities.
Stimac's tactical tweak in the midfield has been interesting too as Anirudh Thapa has dropped at the back in a pivot role while Rohit Kumar is playing as a right midfielder, allowing Chhangte the freedom to move forward.
Igor Stimac makes his third change in an extra forward Rahim Ali as he replaces Sahal Abdul Samad. It's Mahesh, who is playing behind Chhetri now while Rahim is on the left flank.
Lebanon coach Aleksandar Ilic throws in the kitchen sink with three substitutions while India remain in control of the game in both attack and defence. Whatever Stimac said at the half time has worked wonders!
Chhangte scores on the rebound after Naorem Mahesh Singh's effort on target was saved by the Lebanon goalkeeper! Brilliant high pressing by Indian forwards there, Lebanon are unable to figure out what hit them!
With the lead in hand, India are looking much comfortable and confident with their movement while Lebanon are making stray passes in search of some short pass movements. The urgency is making them look inexperienced.
India coach Igor Stimac makes two changes as well with midfielder Rohit Kumar coming in for Jeakson Singh while winger Ashique is replaced by Noarem Mahesh Singh.
India, led by coach Igor Stimac, will aim to win Hero Intercontinental Cup 2023 once again when they take on Lebanon in the final game at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Sunday. This will be the hosts' attempt to regain the title after they lost it to South Korea in the final in 2019.
India won the inaugural edition back in 2018 when Sunil Chhetri-led side defeated Kenya 2-0 in the final played at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. COVID-19 delayed the return of the competition but couldn't have come at a better time as India prepare for the AFC Asia Cup later in the year.
On their way to the final, India defeated Mongolia (2-0) and Vanuatu (1-0) to confirm their final spot before settling for a 0-0 draw against Lebanon in the dead rubber. Lallinzuala Chhangte and Sahal Abdul Samad scored early in the opening win while Sunil Chhetri scored a last-gasp winner against Vanuatu as India's attacking abilities were tested by the Oceanic side's robust defense.
Lebanon, on the other hand, played the tournament without proper centre-backs as their defenders couldn't join the team in time due to visa issues. They did win the first game by a 3-1 margin but were held for a draw by Vanuatu in the next game before they held India for another draw to ensure a safe passage to the final.
There's very little to separate the two sides in the FIFA Rankings. India at 101 are only a couple of spots below 99th-placed Lebanon, and Thursday's goalless draw underlined their evenly-matched calibre. Stimac, however, believed his side was the better one and deserved the victory.
"It could've been a nice win. It didn't happen, but this is the way we need to go," said Stimac, pleased with how India handled the game overall, minus the finishing. "Importantly, we are pretty solid as a unit at the back. The goals will come," he assured.
"I would be worried if we were not creating chances, but that hasn't been the case," said a calm Igor at the pre-match press conference. "Our boys are playing with great faith, and we need to keep supporting them so that they keep rising."
The match will be broadcast and streamed live on Star Sports 2/HD, Disney+Hotstar and Jio TV.
