IND vs MRI: 0-0
85' The recurring pattern of building an attack from the back only to watch it fizzle out in the attacking third is now the story of the match. The absence of a clinical finisher, who can position himself well inside the box, has been felt in abundance
80' Nikhil Poojari comes on as right back for Asish Rai as Manolo puts more fresh legs on the flanks.
Meanwhile, Nandha miscontrols the ball inside the Mauritius box from a promising position after a nicely-placed lobbed long ball from midfield for the winger!
Nandha has been disappointing with his touches and decision-making, which is not something new.
78' Nandha wins India a corner after he squares a ball into the middle from the left following a swift counter-attack.

76' India have lost the momentum and Mauritius get inside the India box and get a shot in. Amrinder gets his hands on the ball.
74' India get another golden chance with Nandha getting into a perfect position to get a shot in but he takes too much time and the ball needs to be forced to a backpass and the chance is wasted.
72' Chhangte steps up to take the free-kick and leaves a lot to be desired. Even though Jay Gupta was close, he could not get his head anywhere near the ball.
70' Nandha makes a good run down the left and is brought down immediately before he can take any cross. India now have a free-kick.
68' Suresh comes in for Apuia. India's recent changes are seeing some effect.
65' Mauritius are quite compact at the back which has been quite a problem for the Indian team as even though they're attacking more, there's hardly been any result from it.
63' The Blue Tigers are registering more fouls in an effort to stop Mauritius on the track to the final third and that could backfire at some point or the other.
60' One concerning issue that India still need to solve at this point to create more chances and not give Mauritius an inch is not lose the ball so much in the midfield. In the last few minutes, Mauritius have managed to get inside the India box some good amount of times and if not addressed, it could spell trouble for the Blue Tigers.
57' We're seeing more box-to-box action now with India showing more effort and more pace. Mauritius have been good at the back, so it has been tough for the Ble Tigers to get on the scoresheet.
55' Nandhakumar and Sahal in - Thapa and Colaco out for India. There have also been a number of changes from the Mauritius side since the start of this half. We'll update you as soon as we can.
53' Sorry for the delay folks because of some technical issues. The second half of the match is underway and good news for all India team fans, the Blue Pilgrims have started with some amazing zeal in the final third.

The first half turns out to be a relatively dull affair with neither of the teams creating enough chances. Mauritius often played in their own half while Marquez's Blue Tigers with a high defensive line. The troika of midfielders -- Jeakson, Apuia and Thapa -- played close to each other, allowing the control over the ball with Jeakson in the middle as the pivot.
However, not enough space is available to exploit in Mauritius' defensive third as the Indian offense and midfield are getting themselves familiar with the new formation and style of Manolo Marquez.
However, playing the ball along the ground through short passes is a familiarity one can see from the Stimac era.
Half-time statistics: India end the first half of the match with 66% possession and Mauritius with 34% ball possession. The Blue Tigers found their footing in the match a little later in the game but they have managed to get 5 shots in total but only a single of them was on target. On the other hand, Mauritius managed 3 shots in total and similar to the Blue Tigers, only a single of their shots was on target.
The first half of the game ends goalless with both teams putting in similar efforts on both sides of the field.

45' The referee signals 1 minute of additional time.
43' It has been a battle in the midfield for some time now with occassional movements up the field in the last few minutes now.
41' Not much comes from the corner though and Mauritius manage to get the hold of the ball. Trying to get something from their efforts, they try on a rolling shot from a distance which ends up a bit too right of the goalpost.
39' Colaco is brought down about 20m away from the goal and India win a free-kick. Colaco steps up to take the free-kick and kicks it directly onto the wall. The ball is still in play and inside the Mauritius half and Mauritius trying to clear it away, India win a corner.
37' Now Mauritius get a golden chance with a screamer from Rudy from the edge of the box on the left and Amrinder does beautifully to clear it away.
35' What a chance for India. Thapa picks up the perfect spot to get a cross to Manvir down the left who takes the shot from a very tight angle. It's still on target but the Mauritius gk manages to punch it away.
33' The Blue Tigers are mostly in possession of the ball but just as it has been for the last half an hour, they have very little to show for it. Even so, their efforts have been getting a little better now.
31' The ball can mostly be seen played inside the Mauritius half in the last few minutes and now they win a free-kick more or less 30m from the goal. Thapa steps up to take the free-kick and it reaches no one, and goes for a goal-kick.
29' We're seeing a little better from the Indian team in the last few minutes. Consistency and a little more creativity can see them get the goal they've been trying so long for.
27' Asish Rai makes a brilliant run down the right flank but can't find his teammate inside the box with a sea of red and it goes for a corner. The corner taken short, is ultimately cleared by the Mauritius team.
25' On the other side of the field, Apuia makes a mistake and the ball is then collected by the Mauritius team in a dangerous place. Thankfully for the Blue Tigers, they decide to take the shot from quite some distance and it's collected easily by Amrinder.
After a series of disappointing performances in recent international tournaments, the Indian team is determined to make a strong impact. The Intercontinental Cup is viewed as a critical preparation stage for the upcoming AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers, with Márquez intending to use this tournament as a rehearsal for more significant challenges.
Despite having only two training sessions prior to the tournament, the Spanish coach remains confident about the team's preparedness. India's squad for the competition includes a blend of newcomers and seasoned players.
Defenders Asish Rai and Roshan Singh Naorem are returning after nearly a year, while emerging talents such as Kiyan Nassiri Giri and Lalthathanga Khawlhring are aiming for their senior debuts. Additionally, this tournament marks the Indian senior men's team's first appearance in Hyderabad in 16 years, adding extra importance to the event.
Mauritius, currently ranked 179th globally, will pose a tough challenge despite their inconsistent form. Under the leadership of French coach Guillaume Moullec, the team has shown potential, with notable performances like a 2-1 win over Eswatini in June and a draw against Angola.
However, they have faced difficulties, including an early exit from the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers and heavy defeats against teams like Cameroon and Chad. Key players for Mauritius include experienced centre-backs Lindsay Rose, who plays for Aris Thessaloniki in Greece, and Dylan Collard of Lusitânia FC Lourosa in Portugal.
Their defensive capabilities, along with the leadership of veteran goalkeeper Kevin Jean-Louis, will be crucial as they aim to counter India's attacking strategies. As the Intercontinental Cup progresses, both teams will be eager to build momentum.
For India, securing a victory against Mauritius would not only boost morale but also help maintain their position in Pot 1 ahead of the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers draw in December. With a blend of youth and experience, Márquez's team will be eager to start this new era on a positive note, setting the stage for the challenges ahead.
