India vs Mongolia: Pyari Xaxa Scores 5 goals as India Crush Mongolia in AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers

By MyKhel Staff

India stamped their dominance in Group A of the AFC Women's Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers with a ruthless 13-0 thrashing of Mongolia at the 700th Anniversary of Chiang Mai Stadium on Monday (June 23).

It was a record-breaking outing for the Blue Tigresses-their largest ever win in the competition's history, overtaking twin 10-0 victories over Guam in 1997 and 2005.

India vs Mongolia: Blue Tigresses' Rampage

Sangita Basfore set the tone in the 8th minute, nodding in from close range after a well-placed cross by Soumya Guguloth. India doubled their lead through Soumya, who produced a sensational volley from the edge of the box off Rimpa Haldar's delivery. The ball pinged off the upright and found the back of the net-a strike that combined technique and power.

Then came the Pyari Xaxa show. The striker made it 3-0 in the 29th minute, finishing off a Soumya cut-back with clinical efficiency. She added another just before the break, unleashing a venomous long-range effort that screamed into the top corner. The Blue Tigresses led 4-0 at half-time and were in complete control.

But they returned from the interval even sharper. Within seconds, Pyari completed her hat-trick, volleying in a Grace Dangmei cross with a striker's instinct. Two more came in quick succession-first in the 52nd minute as she pounced on a loose ball, then three minutes later with a composed finish through the goalkeeper's legs. Five goals in the span of 26 minutes-an individual performance for the ages.

Soumya added her second in the 59th minute, capitalising on a Mongolian defensive mix-up. Head coach Crispin Chettri used the cushion to rotate heavily, introducing Malavika, Priyadharshini Selladurai, Purnima Kumari, Ranjana Chanu, and Monalisha Devi.

The changes brought renewed energy. Rimpa Haldar got herself on the scoresheet in the 67th minute with a deft finish from the edge of the area. Four minutes later, Malavika rifled in India's 10th with a sharp strike from inside the box. Priyadharshini then joined the goal fest in the 73rd minute, timing her run to perfection to meet a low cross and slot it past the keeper.

Grace Dangmei made it 12-0 with a composed penalty in the 75th minute after Sanju was brought down inside the box. Priyadharshini closed the night with her second in the 86th minute, rounding off a merciless attacking display by the Indian side.
