India vs Qatar: The Indian football team’s highest goal scorer, captain, and ace Sunil Chhetri played his last game wearing the Blue Tigers’ jersey in their last match against Kuwait.
His retirement from international football has left a void in the team. However, he could still be in the stadium as he said, “I will travel as a fan and enjoy India’s matches.”

However, it's safe to say that his potential presence in the stands could provide a boost to the team's morale. Even though he has retired, his legacy will continue to inspire India for a long time. If he does travel to Doha, it would be a significant morale boost for the players, who are facing a tough test against the reigning Asian champions.
His retirement marked the end of an era for Indian football and his absence as the team's leader will not be easy on anyone. Hopefully, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu who has been named the captain for the match, will be able to fill the huge shoes left by Chhetri.
The team will be in a transition phase for some time now with the coach trying to fill the void left by Chhetri. However, he also doesn't have a lot of time on his hands. Igor Stimac and his future as the India team's head coach is hanging by a thread. It will all depend on India's result against Qatar in the coming match.
They will have to win at any cost against Qatar. If they at least get a draw, they will have to wait for the Kuwait vs Afghanistan match results to know if they have progressed to the World Cup qualifiers third round. The coach's future depends on the team's progression to the next round.
