The World Champions Argentina beat Indonesia 2-0 on Monday (June 19). Lionel Messi's world-beaters clashed against the Asian side at the Stadion Itama Gelora Bung Karno in Jakarta.
It was a decent match for the hosts, who made a valiant effort in the game. They kept Argentina to just a solitary goal lead at half time, after Leandro Paredes scored a stunner in the 38th minute to give Argentina the lead.

Indonesia came back strongly after the break and created some chances of their own. Emiliano Martinez was called in action to keep Argentina's lead intact as the home side threatened. But Cristian Romero doubled Argentina's lead from a corner and thus settled the match for the World Champions.
Argentina won their previous friendly match against Australia 2-0 as Messi and German Pezzella scored the goals. This will be the first meeting between the two teams in international football.

Goal Scorers: Leandro Paredes (38'), Cristian Romero (55')
That's it. A victory for Argentina to end their World Cup winning season. The South American side were not at their best, but a win none the less. Indonesia can be proud of their performance as well. Leandro Paredes and Cristian Romero scored the goals for Los Albicelestes on the night. That's all from me, your host Sauradeep Ash. Alejandro Garnacho makes a poor sliding challenge. The Manchester United prodigy has been in the thick of things since coming on, and hasn't received the best of receptions from the local crowd after a few rash challenges. He is being booed by the crowd, not the way to remember a trip to Indonesia for the youngster.
Argentina won't be too impressed with their own display. They had shaky moments at the back and Lionel Messi's absence was glaringly showing in their performance. Indonesia, on the other hand, will be proud of the resilience, aggression and fight they showed in the match. We head on to 5 minutes of stoppage time.
Guido Rodriguez also comes on for Argentina replacing Giovani Lo Celso. The former Tottenham player had a decent game.
Off - Julian Alvarez, Leandro Paredes On - Giovanni Simeone, Thiago Almada
A decent run on the right-hand side by Lucas Ocampos but loses control at the byline and the ball goes out harmlessly for a goal kick.
Another opening for Indonesia but Dendi Sulistyawan fails to connect properly and the ball goes way off target. Great ball though in the first place.
It has been a decent match for the youngest Argentine player Bounanotte. Scaloni gives him a pat on the back. Meanwhile Indonesia are creating chances from long throws, creating chaos in Argentina box.
Off - Facundo Bounanotte, On - Lucas Ocampos
Sliding tackles after sliding tackles from both sides and in the end Marcos Acuna fouls Ferdinan as Indonesia win a free-kick.
Rafael Struick goes off as Witan Sulaeman comes on. After 65 minutes, it is still Argentina with a 2-0 lead.
Argentina double their lead.

Goal for Argentina. Cristiano Romero doubles the lead for the World Champions. A decent ball from Giovani Lo Celso from a corner was met emphatically with his head by the defender and he has made it 2-0 for the South American side.
Indonesia have started the second half with much vigour and have created more chances in the first ten minutes of second half. The header from Elkan Baggott could have been much more damaging for Argentina.
That was close. A long throw and a decent header from Indonesia was going in. Emiliano Martinez tips it over the bar with his fingertips.
Indonesia have taken only 4 minutes to win their 1st corner in the second half. Great play on the left hand side and a sliding tackle from Gonzalez gives the hosts a chance to test the Argentine defence.
Nahuel Molina gives away a foul after pushing the advancing Indonesian player. The long ball is gobbled up by Martinez though with ease.
Indonesia have made many changes at the start of the second half. Argentina are looking like unchanged for now.
We are back at the Stadion Utama Gelora Bung Karno for the 2nd half action. Can Indonesia do the unthinkable and get themselves back in the match? or will it just be a one-way traffic as the World Champions Argentina look to impose their authority? Let us see.
Except the goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, all the 10 outfield players for Argentina made more passes than the highest passer for Indonesia, Jordi Amat (20). Among the outfield Argentina players, Nicolas Gonzalez made the lowest number of passes, 22.
Indonesia had only 22 % possession. Argentina had 15 shots in the first half with 4 of them on target. Julian Alvarez had the most shots with 4. Ivar Jenner had the solitary shot for Indonesia.
Check out the Leandro Paredes goal here. The Juventus midfielder scored his 5th goal for his country in his 53rd appearance.

Its half time in Jakarta. Argentina go to the break with a slender 1-0 lead. Leandro Paredes scored the solitary goal and what a strike it was! The hosts have done well but couldn't keep out that bullet of strike from Paredes. Stay tuned as we prepare for the 2nd half.
Martinez forced to make a save. But Indonesia needed a bit more power in the shot to trouble him.
4 minutes added at the end of first half. Four minutes for the home side to find an equalizer, and for Argentina to double their lead.
Julian Alvarez hits the side netting. Indonesia are living dangerously now. A minute remain plus stoppage time before the break.
The stadium has silenced since the goal. Argentina would dearly love to score another before the break. The hosts need to stay calm and avert further damage in this half and go with a 1-0 deficit in the break.
Leandro Paredes blasts open the scoring against Indonesia. After 40 minutes, the World Champions lead 1-0.

Goal for Argentina. Leandro Paredes breaks the deadlock with a long-range stunner. A terrific strike of his right boot beats Ari and stuns the crowd. Argentina have taken a deserved lead!
An excellent run from Bahar whose driving force beat three Argentine players. It looked promising but his pass then let him down and the attack breaks.
148 ranking places separate the two sides as Argentina are ranked 1, whereas Indonesia find themselves at the 149th position in FIFA Rankings. Argentina, who are three-time world champions, play their final friendly of this international break.
Los Albicelestes will be taking on Ecuador next in the World Cup 2026 qualification match in September.
This is the last friendly for Indonesia as well in this international break. They played Burundi in March and managed a 2-2 draw there. The island country has qualified for the upcoming Asian Cup in 2024 and are in the same group with Iraq, Japan and Vietnam.
