INEOS Criticised By Paul Scholes For Negative Impact On Manchester United Since 2024

Paul Scholes has expressed concerns over INEOS's negative influence on Manchester United since their acquisition in 2024. He highlights the team's poor performance and unpopular ticket price increases as evidence of a lack of positive contributions.

Paul Scholes, a former Manchester United star, has expressed disappointment with Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS's management of the club. Since acquiring a 27.7% stake in December 2023, Ratcliffe has overseen sporting operations. However, Scholes believes their impact has been negative. United currently sits 13th in the Premier League after a draw with Liverpool, following a series of poor performances.

Under Ratcliffe's leadership, Manchester United has already changed managers once this season, replacing Erik ten Hag with Ruben Amorim. Despite these changes, the team's performance remains lacklustre. Off-field decisions have also sparked discontent among fans. INEOS raised matchday ticket prices to £66 mid-season and removed concessions during one of the club's worst Premier League campaigns.

Scholes Critiques INEOS's Impact on United

Scholes voiced his concerns on The Overlap Football Fan Debate, questioning the owners' decisions. "I can't think of something positive that they've done for the football club," he said. He criticised the price hikes and questioned how owners could justify increased costs given the team's current form.

The dissatisfaction extends beyond ticket prices. Scholes highlighted how fans are receiving little in return for their financial support. "The team look bang average," he remarked, emphasising that fans are not seeing any benefits from INEOS's ownership. This sentiment is echoed by many supporters who feel disconnected from the club's current direction.

Despite being a lifelong fan from Manchester, Ratcliffe's actions have not aligned with fan expectations. Scholes pointed out that even with his local ties, Ratcliffe has still opted to increase prices. This decision has led many to believe that the new ownership lacks genuine concern for fan welfare.

The ongoing struggles both on and off the pitch have left fans questioning the future under INEOS's leadership. As Manchester United navigates this challenging period, supporters hope for positive changes that reflect their loyalty and passion for the club.
