Radu Dragusin Reflects On How Injury Altered His Perspective In Football

Tottenham's Radu Dragusin shares insights on how his ACL injury changed his perspective on football. Embracing recovery, he highlights the importance of a positive mindset.

Radu Dragusin, a defender for Tottenham, has shared insights into how his injury recovery has altered his view of football. He suffered an ACL injury in January during a Europa League match against Elfsborg, which ended his season. The 23-year-old underwent surgery and missed the Europa League final, although he travelled with the team. This experience has given him a new perspective on the sport.

Despite not being able to train under new manager Thomas Frank, Dragusin has been actively participating in team meetings. "I've been part of all the squad meetings—tactical ones, everything he and his staff are working to build," he mentioned. Understanding the coach's tactics and principles has been beneficial for him. He is eager to return to training and play matches again.

Dragusin Discusses Injury and Recovery Journey

The centre-back reflected on how the injury positively impacted him by embracing the recovery challenge. "I think it really changed the way I see everything in football," Dragusin told the Spurs website. It was his first major injury, prompting significant changes in his approach to training and life on and off the pitch.

Dragusin has played 25 Premier League games since joining Spurs in January 2024. He boasts a 60% tackle success rate and won 59% of his duels, contributing to three clean sheets for the team. His determination to overcome adversity highlights his resilience as a player.

Learning to walk again after surgery was challenging for Dragusin, who had to use crutches due to knee stiffness. "It was a long process but, once I got back to normal walking, it became a positive journey," he said. Maintaining a positive mindset helped him embrace recovery despite its difficulties.

Dragusin expressed enthusiasm about returning to play with teammates soon. "Honestly, I just want to be back on the pitch training with the boys again," he stated. His hard work with fitness staff aims at regaining full fitness for future matches.

The defender's journey through injury recovery underscores the importance of resilience and adaptability in professional sports. By participating in tactical discussions and maintaining focus on rehabilitation, Dragusin prepares for an anticipated return to competitive play.
