Inter Milan Overcomes Monza In Thrilling 3-2 Comeback Victory At San Siro

Inter Milan staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Monza 3-2 at San Siro, extending their Serie A lead. The match saw Inter rally from two goals down, showcasing resilience and determination.

Inter Milan overcame a challenging match against Monza, securing a 3-2 victory at San Siro. This win extended their lead in Serie A to four points. Despite trailing by two goals, Inter fought back to reach 61 points. Napoli could reduce this gap to one point if they defeat Fiorentina on Sunday.

Monza surprised the home crowd by taking the lead in the 32nd minute. Samuele Birindelli scored after a clever exchange with Dany Mota. Monza then doubled their advantage when Keita Balde curled a stunning shot into the far corner, celebrating his 30th birthday in style.

Inter Milan Fights Back for 3-2 Win

Inter responded just before halftime. Henrikh Mkhitaryan delivered a cross into the box, which Denzel Dumfries headed towards Marko Arnautovic, who scored from close range. After the break, Inter continued their offensive push and equalised in the 64th minute.

A headed clearance fell to Yann Bisseck, who set up Hakan Calhanoglu for a first-time shot into the bottom corner. Monza struggled to maintain their defence as Inter intensified their attacks.

The turning point came in the 77th minute when Giorgos Kyriakopoulos inadvertently scored an own goal under pressure from Lautaro Martinez. Goal-line technology confirmed that the ball had crossed the line, giving Inter the lead.

Despite several chances to extend their lead further, Inter couldn't capitalise. Marcus Thuram hit the post from close range, and Stefano Turati made an impressive save to deny Calhanoglu a second goal.

Milan Clubs Make History

This comeback win for Inter coincided with AC Milan's similar triumph earlier that day. Both clubs achieved victories after being two goals down on the same matchday for the first time in Serie A history.

Lautaro Martinez played a crucial role despite not scoring himself. His pressure led to Kyriakopoulos' own goal. The Argentine has now won 150 Serie A matches with Inter since his debut in 2018-19, more than any other player during this period.
