Inter Milan Prepare For Tough Champions League Tie Against Bayern Munich

Simone Inzaghi acknowledges Inter Milan's status as underdogs against Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals, citing player fatigue and strategic teamwork as key factors.

Simone Inzaghi acknowledges Inter Milan's underdog status against Bayern Munich in their Champions League quarter-final. With three key players potentially missing the first leg on Tuesday, Inter faces a daunting challenge. Bayern boasts a 22-game unbeaten home streak in the Champions League, with Paris Saint-Germain being the last team to win there four years ago.

Despite these challenges, Inzaghi remains optimistic about Inter's chances. He recognises Bayern as one of the tournament favourites, especially after their convincing victory over Bayer Leverkusen in the last 16. "They are an experienced squad, they have absences just like us. They press hard, are intense and for many years have gone far in this competition," Inzaghi told reporters.

Inter Milan vs Bayern Munich Preview

Inter Milan is still pursuing a treble this season. They lead Serie A and have reached the Coppa Italia semi-finals. Inzaghi emphasised their commitment to every competition: "We always gave priority to the next match, know we are representing a great club and will try to cause problems for everyone."

However, injuries could hinder Inter's progress as the season concludes. Hakan Calhanoglu, Alessandro Bastoni, and Federico Dimarco might miss the Bayern clash due to fatigue-related issues. Bastoni and Calhanoglu participated in training but need further assessment, while Dimarco trained separately.

Lautaro Martinez was initially planned to play only half of the recent Parma match but ended up playing 70 minutes. Despite this extended playtime, he is expected to be fit for Tuesday's game. Inzaghi stressed teamwork as crucial against Bayern's renowned intensity: "It's a characteristic of Bayern. Every time I've faced them, I've found them to be an intense team," he said.

The manager believes that facing Bayern requires energy and determination from all players: "It will be a match to approach with energy and determination, all together. Everyone will need to be involved." This approach highlights the importance of collective effort in overcoming formidable opponents like Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich is seen alongside Real Madrid as strong contenders for the Champions League trophy this year. However, Inter Milan aims to deliver an impressive performance despite being considered outsiders by many. The upcoming match promises to be a significant test of skill and strategy for both teams.
