Inter Milan's manager, Simone Inzaghi, remains optimistic about his team's future despite a crushing 5-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final. The defeat marked the heaviest in the history of the competition's finals. Goals from Desire Doue, Achraf Hakimi, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Senny Mayulu sealed Inter's fate at Allianz Arena. This loss adds to Inter's recent struggles, having lost four out of their last five European Cup/Champions League finals.
Inzaghi expressed disappointment but believes that setbacks can lead to growth. "We know you can become stronger from defeat. This hurts like in Istanbul," he stated. He noted that Inter arrived more fatigued than PSG and acknowledged their technical shortcomings during the match. Despite playing until the last Friday in their domestic league, PSG had secured their title three months earlier, giving them an advantage.

Inter struggled offensively against PSG, managing only eight shots with two on target and generating just 0.49 expected goals (xG). Before this match, Inter boasted one of the strongest defences in the tournament and had never trailed for more than 370 seconds in any game they fell behind. However, they were behind for over 81 minutes in this final alone.
Despite the setback, Inzaghi emphasised the club's strong organisational backing and future plans. "We start again, with a strong organisation behind us," he said. The club has already made two signings for next season and plans further additions. The board expressed pride in Inter's achievements this year despite the bitter end to their campaign.
The speculation surrounding Inzaghi's future has intensified, with rumours linking him to Al-Hilal ahead of the Club World Cup. However, Inter president Giuseppe Marotta confirmed that Inzaghi's position is secure for now. A meeting is scheduled next week to discuss his future at San Siro.
When questioned about his role at Inter during their upcoming Club World Cup campaign against Monterrey on June 17, Inzaghi remained non-committal. "I don't know how to answer," he said. He expressed deep sadness over the defeat and felt it was not appropriate to discuss his future amid such disappointment.
Inzaghi highlighted that his team gave everything across 58 matches since July last year. While acknowledging they won no titles this season, he insisted on honouring his players' efforts on the field throughout their challenging journey.
