Inter Milan's coach, Simone Inzaghi, expressed his delight as his team surpassed expectations by defeating Atalanta 2-0 in the Supercoppa Italiana. Denzel Dumfries was instrumental, scoring twice in Riyadh on Thursday. This victory propels Inter to the final, where they will face either Juventus or AC Milan on Monday.

Inzaghi praised his team's performance against Atalanta, noting their ability to create numerous chances. "The lads were excellent," he shared with Sport Mediaset, as reported by Football Italia. "We wanted this final and made the first step. The most important one still has to be made."

Currently sitting third in Serie A, Inter are just a point behind leaders Atalanta and Napoli, with a game in hand. They have achieved five consecutive wins across all competitions without conceding a goal, a feat last accomplished in 2007. Dumfries' contribution as a defender was crucial in this success.

Inzaghi highlighted Dumfries' attacking prowess: "That is our style of football; our defenders push up and contribute to the attacking moves." He added that Dumfries' goal-scoring ability is well-known from his performances for both Inter and the Netherlands.

Lautaro Martinez missed a significant opportunity to extend Inter's lead against Atalanta. However, Inzaghi remains confident in Martinez's abilities despite recent struggles. He acknowledged Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi's exceptional saves but emphasized the overall contributions of his forwards.

"I am fortunate to have five forwards whose first focus is that Inter win matches," Inzaghi stated. He appreciates their efforts beyond just scoring goals, highlighting their dedication to the team's success.
