Inter Milan secured a 2-0 victory over Lazio in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals, with Simeone Inzaghi expressing satisfaction with the team's performance. However, he voiced concerns about the players' energy levels. Marko Arnautovic's impressive volley opened the scoring in the 39th minute, followed by Hakan Calhanoglu's penalty, ensuring Inter's place in the semi-finals.
Inter have now reached this stage of the competition 30 times, second only to Juventus with 36 appearances. This marks their fifth appearance in the semi-finals over the last six seasons. They will face AC Milan in April's semi-final clash. Despite their win, Inter faced challenges, managing an expected goals (xG) total of just 0.92 and only four shots during the match.

This season, Inter have already played against AC Milan three times. The Rossoneri emerged victorious in their first Serie A encounter with a 2-1 win and also claimed victory in the Supercoppa Italiana final thanks to Tammy Abraham's late goal. Their most recent meeting ended in a 1-1 draw in Serie A.
Currently, Inter hold a one-point lead over Milan in Serie A standings while Milan sits seventh. Inter remain Italy's sole contender across Serie A, Coppa Italia, and Champions League competitions. Inzaghi expressed concern about their demanding schedule ahead.
Inzaghi highlighted Arnautovic's strategic positioning during corners as crucial for his decisive goal. "We knew he had to position himself at the edge of the box - he has great shooting ability," Inzaghi stated. Arnautovic's goal came from an xG of just 0.02, showcasing his striking prowess.
The upcoming two-legged tie against AC Milan promises intensity as both teams aim for a spot in Rome's final. "We'll think more about it in April," Inzaghi said, acknowledging their packed schedule with many games close together.
"We played an excellent match against a very strong team," Inzaghi commented on facing Lazio. He noted that Lazio posed significant challenges, especially during the first half but praised his team's response after breaking the deadlock.
Inzaghi emphasised taking each match as it comes and focusing on energy recovery due to their busy fixture list. "We must take it one match at a time and focus on recovering our energy because we will need everyone," he added.
