Chivu Must Remain At Inter For Many Years, Says Marotta After Scudetto Triumph
Inter president Giuseppe Marotta has backed Cristian Chivu to guide Inter for a long time after securing the Scudetto, with the 2-0 victory over Parma confirming the Serie A title and underlining a dominant campaign with three games still to play.
The win against Parma, Chivu's former club, sealed Inter's 21st Serie A crown, and it is the sixth time Inter have clinched the title with at least three matchdays remaining, highlighting how early this latest success arrived.

Marotta detailed how Inter quickly moved for Chivu after Simone Inzaghi departed at the end of last season, when a trophyless year and a 5-0 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final led to a contract termination by mutual consent.
Reflecting on that decisive week, Marotta told DAZN Italia: "As Inzaghi also confirmed the contract termination by mutual consent was on Monday, and on the Tuesday, we decided to go for Chivu, Marotta told DAZN Italia about choosing Chivu. It was a courageous choice, but a considered one too, because Chivu already had the curriculum as a player, winning the treble here, of being the Ajax captain at age 21, of winning with the Inter youth team as coach, and also of taking Parma to safety. We had no doubts on his skills, so perhaps he was lacking a little in experience, but we supported him to cover this gap in his CV. He can and must remain at Inter for many years, as he has great qualities."
Chivu joined an elite group of Inter coaches by winning the Scudetto in the first Serie A season in charge, becoming the fifth to do so and the first since Jose Mourinho achieved the same feat in the 2008-09 campaign.
Inter’s league performance also brought several statistical landmarks, as Inter reached at least 80 points in a Serie A season, in the three-points-per-win era, for the 12th time in club history, while maintaining control at the top of the table.
Inter’s attack has stood out as well, with 82 goals scored in this Serie A season; over the last 75 years, Inter have never scored more within the first 35 matches of a single league campaign in this competition, giving further weight to the title win.
Inter Scudetto Serie A ambitions and Chivu’s reaction
The season may yet bring more silverware, as Inter are still competing for a double, with a Coppa Italia final scheduled against Lazio on May 13, offering Chivu and the squad another chance to add to the club’s trophy record.
Chivu, who has a strong personal connection with Inter from playing days and coaching work in the youth sector, underlined how much this title means after a period of rebuilding and change within the squad and staff.
Speaking about the season and Inter’s response, Chivu said: "I was already part of Inter's history before this scudetto, Chivu said. I'm happy for these players, for the club and for the fans. The team did well to roll up their sleeves, rebuild, and find the right motivation to have a competitive season. They did it, and I'm happy for them: the 21st Scudetto is an important chapter in the history of this great club. I'm as happy as when I won as a player, even if back then I was younger, with longer hair and a bit less grey."
This Scudetto strengthens Chivu’s status at Inter as both former treble winner and successful coach, while Marotta’s public support and the possibility of a Coppa Italia triumph underline Inter’s confidence that Chivu can lead the squad through the coming seasons.
