Inter Manager Cristian Chivu Commends Team Spirit Following Narrow Loss To AC Milan

Inter Milan's coach, Cristian Chivu, expressed satisfaction with his team's determination despite their recent 1-0 loss to AC Milan. Christian Pulisic scored the decisive goal in the 54th minute at San Siro, pushing Milan above Inter into second place in Serie A. This defeat marked Inter's fourth loss in 12 matches, dropping them to fourth place.

Inter have struggled against AC Milan recently, failing to secure a win in their last six encounters across all competitions. They now trail new league leaders Roma by three points. Chivu acknowledged the team's shortcomings, stating, "When you suffer the fourth defeat in 12 rounds, that is too many." Despite this, he remains optimistic about their position in the standings.

Chivu highlighted his team's resilience during the match. He noted that Inter limited Milan's counter-attacks effectively but conceded a goal after losing possession in midfield. "This is football," Chivu remarked, emphasizing that his players continued to fight until the end despite hitting the woodwork twice and facing disappointment.

Inter generated an expected goals (xG) of 1.6 from 20 shots compared to Milan's xG of 1.0 from seven attempts. Despite appearing more dominant for much of the game, Inter were undone by a counter-attack goal for the fourth time this season in Serie A. Chivu commented on these risks: "I know what we create and what we concede."

Chivu refrains from publicly criticizing individual players, focusing instead on collective responsibility. He stated, "I don't analyse individuals in public... We are all in this and all responsible." The team now faces a crucial Champions League match against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.

Chivu praised his squad's efforts during training sessions and emphasized that blame should not be placed on any single player when they give their best effort. He stressed that improvements are needed collectively: "We all could've done better; we could've scored earlier."
