Inter's Serie A Title Hopes Dented As Inzaghi Reflects On Defeat To Roma

Simone Inzaghi expressed disappointment after Inter's 1-0 loss to Roma, marking their third consecutive defeat. Despite the setback, he praised the team's effort and looks ahead to their upcoming Champions League match against Barcelona.

Inter Milan's manager, Simone Inzaghi, expressed that his team gave their all in their 1-0 loss to Roma on Sunday. Despite their efforts, the defeat at San Siro has impacted their Serie A title aspirations. Matias Soule scored the decisive goal in the 22nd minute, allowing Napoli to potentially take advantage of Inter's slip.

This loss marks a challenging period for Inter, who have now faced three consecutive defeats across all competitions. Earlier in the week, they were knocked out of the Coppa Italia by AC Milan. This is the first time since February 2012 that Inter has lost three games in a row without scoring, a streak last seen under Claudio Ranieri.

Inzaghi Reflects on Inter's Title Setback

Their current form mirrors a similar run from December 2017 when Luciano Spalletti was at the helm. "This week we come from three defeats which hurt," Inzaghi told DAZN. He acknowledged the team's effort and appreciated the fans' support despite the disappointing result.

Inter must quickly shift focus as they prepare for their Champions League semi-final first leg against Barcelona. The Spanish side recently celebrated a Copa del Rey victory, adding to their momentum. Inzaghi emphasised the need for his team to recover energy and approach the match with respect but without fear.

"We are not used to three defeats," Inzaghi stated, dismissing discussions about set-pieces and penalties as unproductive. He stressed the importance of finding strength within themselves to turn things around during this busy period.

Despite being second in Serie A after Sunday's matches, Inter cannot dwell on their recent setbacks. A positive outcome against Barcelona could be pivotal for them. Inzaghi believes that such a result might serve as a turning point for his squad.

The embrace from supporters at San Siro provided some solace amid disappointment. Inzaghi remains grateful for their unwavering support and is determined to lead his team through this challenging phase with resilience and determination.
