Inter Milan's commanding 6-0 victory over Lazio on Monday night was a testament to their growing form in Serie A. This win propelled them to third place, just three points shy of Atalanta, the league leaders. Despite Lazio's strong start, Inter's resilience and tactical prowess allowed them to dominate the match, silencing the Stadio Olimpico with a series of rapid goals.
Simone Inzaghi praised his team's patience during the initial stages against a technically adept Lazio side. "In the first 25 minutes we were good at keeping our distance with a Lazio team that played well technically," he stated. Inter gradually found their rhythm, netting twice before halftime and adding a third soon after, effectively sealing the game.

For the first time in their Serie A history, six different Inter players scored in an away match. Hakan Calhanoglu, Federico Dimarco, Nicolo Barella, Denzel Dumfries, Carlos Augusto, and Marcus Thuram all contributed to this remarkable feat. The diversity in scoring highlighted Inter's depth and attacking versatility.
Three players—Dumfries, Dimarco, and Calhanoglu—each recorded both a goal and an assist. Inzaghi acknowledged the difficulty of singling out performances after such a comprehensive display but praised Stefan De Vrij for his consistency and Lautaro Martinez for his impactful play despite not scoring.
This victory also marked Inter equalling their best record of 13 away wins in a calendar year in Serie A—a milestone previously achieved in 2007 and 2021. Additionally, they set a new club record by scoring 47 away goals in Serie A during 2024.
Inzaghi noted that despite some key players being unavailable due to injuries or absences on both sides, his team showed great pace and determination. He emphasised that maintaining such intensity is crucial given the competitive nature of the Italian championship.
The triumph over Lazio underscores Inter's potential as serious contenders this season. Their ability to adapt tactically and score through multiple players makes them formidable opponents as they continue their pursuit of Serie A glory.
