Intercontinental Cup: India Coach Manolo Marquez Announce Probable 26-man Squad For Preparatory Camp, Know Who Missed Out

India are said to begin their Intercontinental Cup campaign on September 3. The team will come together before that to prepare for the camp. New head coach Manolo Marquez has announced his initial choice of 26 men for the preparatory camp.

It is a glimpse into the coach's vision with his choice of squad. The exclusion of many names from this squad is a little bit surprising. There are many names who have delivered well and again previously. However, the coach will still be under a lot of pressure to deliver.

The list of probables:

Goalkeepers: Gurpreet Singh, Amrinder Singh, Prabhsukhan Singh Gill.

Defenders: Nikhil Poojary, Rahul Bheke, Chinglensana Singh Konsham, Roshan Singh Naorem, Anwar Ali, Jay Gupta, Ashish Rai, Subhasish Bose, Mehtab Singh.

Midfielders: Suresh Singh Wangjam, Jeakson Singh, Nandhakumar Sekar, Naorem Mahesh Singh, Yasir Mohammad, Lalengmawia Ralte, Anirudh Thapa, Sahal Abdul Samad, Lallianzuala Chhangte, Lalthathanga Khawlhring.

Forwards: Kiyan Nassiri Giri, Edmund Lalrindika, Manvir Singh, Liston Colaco."We are very excited about our first preparatory camp and I know it will be the same for the players." said Manolo Marquez announcing the squad, "We face two different teams and the rankings are not very important."

"We need to work all together in the same direction to find the correct group of players and their predisposition will be very good, something I am completely sure about. I know all of us are in pre-season with nice challenges in front of us. Is a big honour to wear the jersey of the National Team and we need to show it for all our fans," he added.

Among these names, Sandesh Jhingan sustained a major knee injury during the AFC Asian Cup earlier this year. Akash Mishra, Brandon Fernandes, and Vikram Pratap Singh are injured as well. All four players are yet to recover from their respective injuries which is why they have been excluded from the squad.
