Simone Inzaghi Admits Mistake After Red Card In Inter's Victory Against Udinese

Simone Inzaghi acknowledged his emotional response led to a red card during Inter's narrow victory over Udinese. He expressed regret and discussed injury challenges facing the team.

Simone Inzaghi admitted that his emotions got the better of him during Inter's tight win over Udinese in Serie A. Marko Arnautovic and Davide Frattesi gave Inter a two-goal lead by halftime. However, Oumar Solet's goal in the 71st minute made the match tense. Yann Sommer played a crucial role, making key saves to secure a 2-1 victory for Inter.

Inzaghi received his second yellow card during stoppage time after stepping onto the field following a decision favouring Udinese. Despite watching the final moments from afar, Inter secured their 20th Serie A win this season. "A splendid first half by the lads, where we deserved more than the two-goal lead," Inzaghi told DAZN.

Inzaghi Apologises for Red Card Incident

Inzaghi will miss Inter's upcoming match against Parma due to suspension. He explained that several key players would be unavailable for their Coppa Italia semi-final against AC Milan midweek. "At the moment, we are in difficulty. Of our five substitutions, four were forced," Inzaghi said.

Arnautovic and Frattesi had to leave due to injuries, while Federico Dimarco and Matteo Darmian had just returned from injuries themselves. Kristjan Asllani is also suspended for the match against Milan. Mehdi Taremi, Lautaro Martinez, and Denzel Dumfries will not be available either.

Reflecting on his sending off, Inzaghi admitted he made an error at the end of the game. "I apologised to the referee," he said when asked about his dismissal. He felt there was a clear foul on Joaquin Correa before a corner kick that nearly resulted in another goal for Solet.

The coach received his first caution shortly after halftime for protesting when Marcus Thuram was fouled near the box without earning a free-kick. "Sometimes adrenaline plays bad tricks," Inzaghi remarked about his emotional reaction during the game.

Despite these challenges, Inzaghi remains hopeful about future matches and competitions. He emphasised that they would need all players as they advance in various tournaments, including the Club World Cup which holds significance for them.
