Simeone Inzaghi Backs Lautaro Martinez To Regain Scoring Touch For Inter Milan

Inter Milan coach Simeone Inzaghi reassures fans about Lautaro Martinez's form after a recent scoring drought. Despite only six goals this season, Inzaghi believes the striker will return to his best as the team continues its strong performance in Serie A.

Inter Milan's recent 2-0 victory over Como has positioned them third in Serie A, trailing leaders Atalanta by three points. Carlos Augusto and Marcus Thuram scored, securing Inter's fourth consecutive league win. Despite this success, captain Lautaro Martinez's form is under scrutiny. Last season's top scorer in Serie A and Copa America Golden Boot winner, Martinez managed only one shot on target and has scored just six times this season.

Inter coach Simeone Inzaghi remains unconcerned about Martinez's current form. "I was a striker, I know these moments happen," he stated. Inzaghi praised Martinez as one of the standout players against Lazio. He emphasised that forwards are working hard and need rest when possible. Inzaghi advised Martinez to stay calm, assuring him that his scoring opportunities will eventually convert into goals.

Inzaghi Supports Martinez Amid Scoring Drought

Martinez's performance aligns with expectations based on his chances this season. His six goals match his expected goals of 5.7 from 44 shots, resulting in a 13.64% conversion rate—lower than last season's 17.88%. This dip hasn't worried Inzaghi, who believes luck will soon favour the striker.

Inter's four-game winning streak is their best since achieving ten consecutive victories earlier this year between January and March. Inzaghi expressed satisfaction with the team's high level of play despite challenges from opponents like Como. "Clearly we are maintaining a very high level," he noted, acknowledging the competitive nature of Serie A.

Inzaghi admitted concerns about the match against Como due to defensive vulnerabilities but was pleased with the team's focus. The first half lacked sharpness, but increased intensity in the second half led to timely goals. This mature performance demonstrated Inter's awareness and ability to adapt under pressure.

As Inter continues its campaign, maintaining momentum is crucial for closing the gap with Atalanta at the top of Serie A. With Inzaghi's confidence in his players and strategic adjustments during matches, Inter aims to sustain their strong form throughout the season.
