Inter Milan are currently leading Serie A, while AC Milan are in ninth place. Despite this, Inter's coach, Simone Inzaghi, remains cautious due to their mixed results in recent derbies. Inter have won their last five matches across all competitions, whereas Milan have lost four out of their last six games. The two teams are set to face off again on Wednesday in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final.
In previous encounters this season, Milan have had the upper hand, winning twice, including a comeback victory in the Supercoppa Italiana final in January. The third meeting ended in a 1-1 draw in February. As they prepare for their fourth clash this season, Milan hold the bragging rights in this historic rivalry that spans 116 years.

Inzaghi expressed satisfaction with Inter's performance so far, as they maintain a three-point lead over Napoli in Serie A and have advanced to the Champions League quarter-finals after defeating Feyenoord. Their next challenge will be against Bayern Munich in the last eight, with the first leg scheduled for next week.
The coach emphasised that reaching April while still competing on multiple fronts was a significant achievement for Inter. "The goal was to get to April in the running for all competitions," he stated. "We know that now comes the hard part, but it's a source of great pride to be in all competitions."
Despite their struggles this season, Inzaghi acknowledged Milan's ability to pose problems for any team. He cited their impressive 3-1 victory at Real Madrid during the Champions League group stage as evidence of their potential threat. "We know it'll be a challenge to be played over 180 minutes," he added.
Reflecting on past encounters and Milan's performance against Real Madrid, Inzaghi noted that Milan is a quality team capable of causing trouble even when facing difficulties during the season. "It's a quality team, which has had some difficulties during the season, but in single games they have worried everyone," he said.
As Inter prepare for another intense derby match against Milan, Inzaghi stressed the importance of caution and readiness. "We'll need to be very careful," he concluded.
