Inzaghi Calls For Clinical Finishing As Inter Prepares For Arsenal And Napoli Challenges

Inter Milan's coach Simone Inzaghi highlights the necessity for improved finishing ahead of crucial matches against Arsenal and Napoli. Despite a recent win, he acknowledges missed opportunities that could impact their performance in upcoming fixtures.

Inter's coach, Simone Inzaghi, emphasised the need for his team to be more efficient in front of goal following their Serie A victory over Venezia. Lautaro Martinez scored his first home league goal since February, securing a narrow 1-0 win at San Siro. Despite the win, Inter missed several opportunities to extend their lead, which Inzaghi acknowledged as an area for improvement.

Inzaghi's squad managed 20 shots with an expected goals (xG) value of 2.41 compared to Venezia's seven attempts and 1.07 xG during Sunday's match. They have now scored in each of their last 28 league games at San Siro after a brief goalless spell earlier this year. However, with upcoming matches against Arsenal and Napoli, Inzaghi stressed the importance of capitalising on scoring chances.

Inzaghi Urges Improvements Before Key Matches

The Nerazzurri are set to face Arsenal in the Champions League at San Siro on Wednesday, followed by a crucial Serie A clash against Napoli on Sunday. Napoli currently leads Serie A by one point. Inzaghi stated, "In two days we are up against one of the best teams in Europe with huge quality, so clearly my focus right now is on Arsenal."

Reflecting on the recent match, Inzaghi expressed satisfaction with his team's performance despite missed opportunities. "We should've been more clinical," he told DAZN. "But to be honest, I congratulated the team because the first half was excellent even if we wasted big opportunities." He regretted not securing a more decisive victory once they took the lead.

The coach also highlighted concerns about their demanding schedule but found solace in key players returning from injury. "This is our fifth game in two weeks," he noted. "There are another two to come against Arsenal and Napoli, but we've got Hakan Calhanoglu back and Francesco Acerbi will be available on Wednesday too." Carlos Augusto remains sidelined.

Inzaghi acknowledged that having a full squad is crucial given the intensity of upcoming fixtures. "As a coach I will need everyone," he added, underlining the importance of player availability as they navigate this challenging period.
