Ipswich Town's manager, Kieran McKenna, expressed satisfaction with his team's performance in their 2-2 draw against Aston Villa. The match at Portman Road saw Ipswich extend their unbeaten run to four games in the Premier League. Liam Delap scored twice for Ipswich, including a crucial equaliser in the 72nd minute, moving them to 15th place and out of the relegation zone.
Ipswich took an early lead through Delap's eighth-minute goal. However, Aston Villa responded with goals from Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins, turning the game around by the 30th minute. Despite this setback, Ipswich showed resilience and determination to secure a draw. McKenna praised his players' character, stating they never lost hope even when trailing.

McKenna highlighted the quality of play from both teams, noting that competing against a well-established side like Villa was encouraging. "I think we created the better chances in the game," he said. "But when you come back from 2-1 down, a point is a good result." He emphasised that maintaining an unbeaten streak in the Premier League is challenging and sees room for further improvement.
Aston Villa missed a chance to match Liverpool on points at the top of the table. Unai Emery admitted disappointment with the outcome but felt it was fair given how the game unfolded. "We controlled the first half better than the second half," he said. "We started very well; we came back and controlled the game really well."
In contrast, Emery noted that Ipswich applied significant pressure in the second half. Villa struggled to maintain control as they did earlier in the match. Watkins acknowledged their inability to execute their strategy effectively, particularly in attack. "They always put a lot of pressure on us," Watkins added.
Despite not being satisfied with just one point, Emery accepted it as a fair result based on both teams' performances. He recognised Ipswich's efforts and acknowledged areas where Villa could have been more effective, especially in finishing opportunities.
The match showcased Ipswich's potential as they continue their return to top-flight football after two decades away. The team aims for further growth while building on their current momentum in upcoming fixtures.
