Jaden Philogene has expressed his eagerness to play as much football as possible following his £20 million transfer to Ipswich Town from Aston Villa. The move was finalised on Wednesday, with Philogene signing a four-and-a-half-year contract at Portman Road. This transfer comes just over seven months after he returned to Villa from Hull City on a permanent basis.
The 22-year-old featured in 15 matches for Unai Emery's team this season but only started four. Although he hasn't scored or assisted for the Villans this term, Philogene is seen as a promising addition to Kieran McKenna's attacking options for the rest of the campaign. "I'm excited to be here, and I know there are great players in the squad," Philogene told Ipswich's website. "I just want to play as much as possible."

During the 2023-24 season with Hull City, Philogene demonstrated his capabilities by scoring 12 goals and providing six assists in 32 Championship games. Despite missing nine matches due to a knee injury, he completed a team-high 87 dribbles and created more chances (52) than any of his teammates in the second tier.
Philogene is Ipswich Town's second acquisition of the January transfer window, following Ben Godfrey's arrival from Atalanta on a six-month loan earlier this month. His addition is expected to bolster Ipswich's attacking prowess as they aim for success in their current campaign.
Philogene described himself as a player who enjoys dribbling, linking up play, and contributing goals and assists. He expressed enthusiasm about joining Ipswich and looks forward to making an impact on the field.
Ipswich Town announced Philogene's signing through their official Twitter account on January 15, 2025.
Philogene's move marks an important step in his career as he seeks more playing time and opportunities to showcase his skills at Ipswich Town.
