Andoni Iraola expressed confusion over the decision not to dismiss Maximilian Kilman for a handball incident during Bournemouth's match against West Ham. The Cherries were trailing after Callum Wilson, a former Bournemouth player, scored twice in the first half at Vitality Stadium. However, Marcus Tavernier's penalty and Enes Unal's quick goal after coming on secured a 2-2 draw with a strong second-half performance.
Iraola was frustrated with referee Thomas Bramall for not issuing a red card to Kilman, who handled the ball while attempting to tackle Evanilson. Speaking to Sky Sports, Iraola said: "I don't understand the referee decision to not send him off. They told me it is not a denial of a goal-scoring opportunity. If that is not it, I don't know what is. I cannot even understand it. It is the clearest chance you can give to a number nine. I was not happy at all with the decision."

The Bournemouth manager acknowledged his team's defensive errors that led to West Ham's goals. Marco Senesi and Djordje Petrovic were involved in mistakes for the first goal, while Jarrod Bowen and Jean-Clair Todibo capitalised on headers for the second. Despite these errors, Iraola felt his team deserved more from the match.
Bournemouth dominated in the second half, creating numerous opportunities but failing to secure victory. Iraola praised West Ham goalkeeper Areola, who made 10 saves and three clearances, helping his team earn a point. "It is not a good result for us," said Iraola. "We did a lot of very good things today, and we deserved to win."
Enes Unal's goal was particularly significant as he had not scored since December 2024 due to injuries. Iraola expressed delight for Unal's return to form: "Everyone was very pleased for him. He has been working alone a lot of time, and to have this moment you score, I think is good. He will help us," he said.
Bournemouth had suffered consecutive defeats before this match and aimed to improve their performance post-international break. Despite their efforts and chances created in the second half, they could only manage a draw against West Ham.
Iraola emphasised learning from mistakes made during the game: "We have to look at the mistakes we made," he added. The team aims to build on their second-half display as they prepare for upcoming challenges.
The team's resilience in securing a draw after trailing by two goals highlights their potential moving forward in the season.
